New Zealand has always been one of those places on the top of my spearfishing bucket list. While I was in Madagascar, the opportunity to go film a short story came and I jumped right in. This experience was so special that I ended up moving there for a year.
This was a very challenging film to put together as I had to follow Justin Lee and Ryan Meyers while they were scouting for the New Zealand Spearfishing Nationals Comp. We had to make a balance between giving the guys the room to scout while trying to get the shots on the fly. It ended up being a super fun challenge and we were still able to get the message across. I wanted to make a story that shows what goes behind spearfishing comps and I could not have had better guys to reflect this message. These guys do everything to win but at the end of the day is a bit more than that.
