@@ValhallaVFTregarding the behavioral health side of things. Just out of curiosity. Is it common on the teams for guys to have a history of mental health issues when they joined up? Or is the military good about thorough psych checks?

I passed SFAS in 1990 at age 24. A guy from one of the AR/NG groups was selected in my class at age 42. He had been in the previous class with his son. His son was selected and he made it all the way through and was not selected. I guess they decided if he was tough enough to do it twice back to back he was tough enough to go on to the SFQC.

What you mean the body breakdown at 35? I'm 35 been going to the gym since 16yo, boxing, running and hiking. My body is stronger them ever. It's not age, it's what you do in these year's that count.

Thank for your video! I’m 27 and I’m currently a police officer. I always wanted to go into special forces. Unfortunately I can’t join the army until I get certain things squared away, but the plan is to join the army maybe age 30. I feel better now physically and mentally than when I was younger. Hopefully one day.

I wish I can explain how frustrating it is to know I can't go SF. I just finished BCT, over 500 in my ACFT but because I'm 41 I can't go. If you're thinking about it, do it, and don't end like me having to regret it not doing it sooner.

Honestly I’m nervous going in at age 22. I think I’m pretty mature but I have next to no real life experience even with a bachelor’s degree, and I’ve lived comfortably up until this point.

22 isn’t a bad age, some advantages, you’ll be alright. Keep yourself out of trouble on the weekends, that’s what gets most young guys more than anything.

Thanks for the encouraging words. For folks in their 30s considering commissioning of going enlisted in the part-time(national guard) special forces, can you do a video on benefits and rationale of going one path over the other; particularly as they'd still be having a regular career to keep providing for their families and upholding the same standard of living while pursuing their chosen SF career path? It's been a question that's bothered me for a bit, given over 30 you already have a degree, decade of work experiences under your belt & like a full on career, if it'd make any sense to even consider enlisting so as to learn the tools of the trade, but have a compromise by take orders from folks alot much younger than yourself while doing mundane tasks, or it's wiser to simply just commission and start at least in lower management and then begin charting your SF national guard part-time career from that level with some assumed responsibility already. Thanks for considering creating a video specifically for this scenario.

I’m fresh 23 and contemplating joining the military. And going for sf. I have no discipline or path to go in my life, and have always wanted to join and get life experience and get some training, and skills. But the politics and forced vaccinations have kept me out. Any thoughts.?
@ValhallaVFT3 ай бұрын
Shitty politics affects you regardless of being in the military or not, so might as well look at the benefits side of the coin.
Shit I’m nervous to try out at 29. Everyone keeps telling me it’s a stupid idea specially now that less and less people are enlisting. I don’t really have any skills that would translate great in ODA. I do speak 4 different languages but not the ones that really matter. I’m an electrician/solar tech, dropped out of college Jr year, I’m a shit swimmer, I’ve been working and getting ready for the past 3 months but still unsure about walking in that office and signing up. Specially when I see these socom athletes, they look like damn NFL athletes, I’m 6’1/200 average fit. Though this is something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. Just too pussy to just sign up.
@ValhallaVFT2 ай бұрын
What’s the worst that happens, you wash out and don’t make it and are in the same position you’re at now. Or you can not try and wonder for the rest of your life whether you could have made it or not. Looking at it that way made it an easy choice for me. I was in my early 20s with no life skills at all, you’ll learn everything you need to once you’re in.
