Just in time for Valentine's day; a new love song that sounds like an old love song.
The writing process began with the compound meter drum groove (sampled from the record in the video). I wanted to write a song in the Philly Soul style but ended up with more of a cross between Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan.
The music video here is really a fib, the only picture recorded at the time of the recording session was of Carlos Vizoso taking the track all the way to 11 on sax. HYUGE shout out to him for helping me with this project. I knew it needed something and he found it for me. I figured it might be fun to see the context of me doing the parts, just so you wouldn't be bored from a still image.
The instrumentation is also a fib in the video. All the keyboard sounds where recorded from one source of emulators that fed directly into my recording software. The bass was also recorded from a keyboard; however, I tried the parts out on bass guitar to get that idiomatic feel. I just happened to like the emulator better for this track. The guitar sounds are all from a Squier Strat fed through a G3X Pedal board.
I used some weird chords I found just by "plinkin" around so if something catches your ear just holler at me.
