Flex Head Ratchet Set: amzn.to/2SGD889
Impact Socket Set: amzn.to/2UkBVEZ
Today at Speedy's Garage we review the AC Delco 3/8 cordless ratchet AWR1201 that you've seen used in many of our videos. This ratchet is quiet with what I've found to be adequate battery life. It's also quiet as is demonstrated in this video. This AC Delco cordless ratchet provides 47ft/lbs of working torque with 57ft/lbs maximum, but is also long enough to provide good leverage to break a fastener loose prior to squeezing the activation lever if needed.

Definitely agree with the hand tools bit, I've used hand ratchets exclusively for 6 years. They were great when I had no tools to get the work done with, but all the manual twisting and turning tires me out even after supposedly simple jobs. Especially with the heavy 1/2" ratchets that are pretty much required for car stuff. I'd like to add that Walmart's website is also a decent place to get those ACDelco (actually Durofix) power tools, as you can buy 3-year extended warranties to complement the 1-year manufacturer warranties.

Thanks for the very comprehensive review, without any drama. I've just ordered the ARW-1208 with one battery and a hard case. I'm too old to do major repairs on my car anymore and my shoulder is pretty uncooperative, as well. This cordless ratchet will fill the bill for me and for under 100 bucks. It's just like Christmas today! Tools gooood.

Been looking into a cordless ratchet for my husband since he mentioned wanting one a while ago. This baby has five star reviews on amazon so I figured I’d get some more info on the good ol KZfaq first. Looks like this gadget is going into his Father’s Day basket from the kiddos! Thank you for the informative review!

That looks like a great tool. I do a lot of DIY projects on my vehicles and that is a lot better than trying to move a ratchet by hand.

Strangest thing is. I was just looking at reviews of 3/8 cordless ratchets. Just in time. About to go buy one today.

FYI in 2024 the 1201 is no longer available, the closet I could find in specs is the ARW1210-3

Thanks for the review, I'm going to give the ARW1208 a try and see how it works out. Slightly lessor model from the 1201.

Great video! Just got one of these rachets today, looking forward to using it. On the decibel scale every 10 db is 10 times as loud. So 60 db is 10x louder than 50, and 80 is 1000x louder than 50. I worked at a stereo shop in the late 90's and we would have SPL (sound pressure level) competitions so I learned all about it. Also I don't think you have enough DeWalt drills/impacts lol.

Had it several years?!?!? Mine looks fucking terrible its the other model where the button is an on off button instead of it having variable speed with the trigger thats the whole reason I watched this so thankyou for showing that it actually works I’m gonna spend the extra money and get this one instead of the blue one that doesn’t have variable speed even tho I loved the tool but I broke it finally after three years of hard hard use in a professional shop where I use it constantly daily

Nice review on the ratchet. You might to keep in mind about db. The human far cannot discern the difference in sound pressure level if the db is raised by one or two points. There has to be an increase of 3dbs for the human ear to register a change in volume. Simple rule of thumb, for every 3 db increase there has to be a doubling of power in the sound pressure level, as opposed to the power a ratchet may need.

I'm still up in the air about electric tools since i have so much money into my air tool, ive been thinking about going the 3/8 electric route just to see i like it. I'll have to look into the ac delco ratchet cause I've been eyeing the Milwaukee or ryobi.

I'm in the same boat but I did pick up the pess powerful model of this one "45 lb ft" and it's so nice to throw in the truck and just not have to mess with the air hoses. If I need the power I break out the compressor.

Agree with your statement that cordless tools really help with the fatigue. As I've gotten older and more out of shape, they have been a life saver. I've got the Milwaukee version of this and love it. That and my Craftsman impact are must have imho.

Hey Bud, nice tool review. Can you talk a little bit next time about how you mounted your work bench top as I see some screw/bolt heads and have you gotten your vise yet and where are you going to mount it? I also noticed you had allot of Dewalt tools in your drawer, do you use them as much as your cordless ratchet? Bill OVERPAR73

It's part of the Husky setup, has rails on the back that bolted in. I have a video on the assembly here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJh0hNidrbXJn40.html I'll be talking about the Dewalt tools in the future, so stay tuned :)

Have you had a chance to test the new G12 brushless? I purchased that one after seeing your review on the ac delco. Wanted the Milwaukee. What made me decide against it was the fact it comes with no battery or charger. Ac delco comes with everything and $20 cheaper.

Thanks 🤘 Iso of another 1/2 inch heavy duty cordless impact gun And actually, a decent 3/8 gun as well 1/2 inch for: For front end bolts, crankshaft harmonic balancer bolts, difficult lugs, etc Any suggestions? Had a top end makita Used once... Once. Brought it to a habitat for humanity volunteer home repair build. Gave to Others once I saw they were trying to run lag bolts by hand with small ratchets to drive lag bolts into a porch header board they had 25 8- 10 inch bolts to do by hand in an old old header on an old cottage that was really tough to work with I was working on other tasks that day. Eventually, they took was returned to my tool bag when someone claimed the two batteries ran out. Once I recharged the batteries , it never worked again- bushing-? Over $300.for the kit

Good morning, my name is toby , I just recently started watching your KZfaq channel, I like what you do, I think you were in the service, if you were, thank you for your service, if not oh well, I was wrong lol. Have a question I have a 2018 challenger RT, I was going to buy a scat pack, but when I went to buy it from a close friend that works at our local dealership, all they had left was two RT, He gave me one heck of deal, anyway , on the video you made on the brake up grade you made on orange crush. what did it cost you for those willwood. Sets . and did you get them online ?

Thanks, for the thanks, yep USMC. Those brakes are Baer brakes and they were amazing, but $$$$. Worth it in my opinion though especially if you plan to add any power.

I bought a harbor freight ratchet But if I were to spend money on a good cordless ratchet I would Definitely get a Snap-on I usually buy good brand tools and cheap ones for those who always want to borrow your tools
@SpeedysGarage

I used to think Snap-On was king of tools. Purchased two different styles of Snap-On impact guns and was disappointed in both, more on that in the future. One is still in my tool box and is the only pneumatic tool I've ever had to have repaired. Surprised me for sure.

Tools...ugh, don't get me started. BOTH of my favorite hobbies require tools...and I stay broke buying them. Woodworking tools are worse than mechanic's tools IMO. Good content...I am contemplating buying something similar to this. I'll probably buy Milwaukee's version so I can stay in the M12 system that I already have from my woodworking tools.

@@SpeedysGarage Funny...as was my grandfather, and my dad, and his older brothers. I guess it's in my blood. It's just a hobby for me (at the moment). All tools are expensive...just woodworking tools seem to be more specialized and therefore more plentiful. Speaking of which...I should be in my shop instead of watching KZfaq. LOL...

Thanks for useful review -- but a note on decibels (6:34). The decibel scale is logarithmic, not exponential, and it's not true that an increase of 1dB sounds 10 times louder (which would indeed be exponential). Instead, 1dB is usually reckoned to be about the minimum increase or decrease in loudness that we can sense (so called "Just Noticeable Difference" or JND). A perceived doubling in loudness corresponds to between 6dB and 10dB -- the vague range owing to the subjective nature of loudness.
