SpeedyBee F405 Wing factory firmware does not enable softserial on T2. This video shows how to flash the softserial fix firmware, FlySKY iBus and SBUS, adding extra servos for flaps, gear etc.

Hello, you have made a great video. I bought the FC as a result. After 2 hours of operation and setup, there was a short circuit on the circuit board and the FC caught fire. I contacted Speedybee directly because I had also bought the FC there. They then decided that it was not a fault with the circuit board and that they could give me a 30% discount if I bought it again. I think something like that should also be mentioned in a video. A regular customer warranty is simply rejected here. Greetings Georg🤨😮

Sorry to hear about your smoked SpeedyBee. I have had that happen to a few of my builds over the years but it has always been due to my bad soldering or wrong polarity. I would never expect warranty cover for something the customer has soldered up, so 30% sounds like a good deal to me.

Thanks Andrew. I have this bargain FC from Speedybee too. Ive also recently started using Flysky RX's because they are cheap and have 3km range, unlike Radiomasters cheap RX's which have terrible range, even when tuned. The ibus/ sbus stuff was usefull...🤔😳😏😀🇬🇧

Thank you sir after watching your video I have also enabled my telemetry my receiver is jumpr R1 but in config tab to enable softserial softserial port in inav configretr add cpu serial Port has to be enabled

I like that there’s a usb extender in case I accidentally yank my cable, it won’t rip off the usbc plug like on the Matek board I purchased and didn’t get to put in the air

Cheers Andrew, yes it was quite a mission to get SMARTPORT Telemetry working on this board. During my frustration I went out and bought a MATEK F405WMN and have exactly the same issue, NO Smartport. Now with this board SoftSerial is available but NO Smartport Telemetry output. Speedbee fixed their issue in two stages, first enabling SoftSerial and forwarding revised firmware, secondly acheivng SMARTPORT Telemetry and yet another version of the firmware. I wonder if there was always TWO issues here and I wonder if the F405WMN has the second issue, i.e SOFTSERIAL but no SMARTPORT? I'm onto Matek to find out.

Don't know about their stock firmware, but you should just update to INAV 7.1.1anyway

hi Andrew, I have two of these boards the first I tried to flash from stock firmware to 6.1 and since then haven't been able to connect back to configurator , I get MSP messages like "no configuration received within 10 seconds , communication failed"

I am trying to use FBUS with this board and the TDR6 Frsky RX. Do I wire the FBUS wire to TX2 as if it was SPort or do I use the SBUS pin?

Not possible as far as I know. The receiver needs to have an "uninverted" FPort output to work with F4 boards. Have to use SBUS and SPort

I was going to maiden my Phoenix with my SpeedyBee today and my video screen is saying "disarm navigation". I have no idea what this means as I've always used Vector. Any ideas?

I think it means you have one of the navigation modes activated while trying to arm

@@AndrewNewton I have the 6-wire GPS+Mag(i2c) units and was thinking maybe try the Holbro Digital Airspeed Sensor (i2c). I'm not sure if the iNav peeps favour airspeed or if that's exclusive to ArduPilots. But my wish is to use iNav with this SpeedyBee if it's possible. or if the firmware on this F405wing even supports airspeed in any way yet? Trying to move all my new builds to ELRS. - or just order the KakuteWing instead of the sBee, but the current sensor on the Kakute is limited to 70 amps vs the sBee 80 amps; plus the sBee uBec is 4a vs the KK at 8amps and 6v for servos. Also, have you had any issues with these Wing boards on analogue OSD or HD OSD with their card reader wiring (have had to remove the card reader BBox card from my F405 quad under BetaFlight 4.4.2 - know bug in the wiring of the F405 which is limited to older 4.3.2 in reality for analogue OSD not to freeze)

@@twist-of-the-wrist OK. GPS is usually UART and mag is i2c. You don't need to connect or enable the compass for fixed wing INAV. Airspeed sensor is supported by INAV for OSD display only. Not used for flight like Ardu.

Hi Andrew.....I have a number of the excellent Flysky RXs...FS - IA6B......I do not have any Flysky transmitters. Is there any way I can talk to the receiver using Edge TX Radiomaster TX16S to select the iBUS or SBUS protocol?.....Thanks....😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯😯

Yes exactly like in this video. In the TX16S Internal RF - Mode - Flysky2A, Protocol - PWM,iBUS. Connect from iBUS SERVO on the Rx to UART1 on the board (Rx1 pin) Cant get SBUS to work, maybe that's where you would need a Flysky radio

@@AndrewNewton Thanks Andrew. What threw me was incorrect information about which port was SBUS and which was IBUS...!!!..Flyskys very own RX manual is frankly awful. Not sure why they've labelled the RX ports on the RX in such a confusing manner.. The PPM port is clear enough. I actually got the SBUS port to work in the end...A lot of conflicting info about the Port labelling on the net...guess why...lol... Fantastic receivers though....🤔😳😀😀🇬🇧 Port type activation is determined on Edge during binding. I thought I needed a Flysky TX..😮😮

Which is the SBUS port? I guess you have to re bind with SBUS selected?

Yes, a rebind if you want a different port type selected. The SBUS port is the upper RH horizontal port with signal wire extreme right. The IBUS port is the upper LH port........I double checked this info inside iNAV using a FC.....NOTE: This is for a Flysky RX...FS - IA6B..... .🤔🤔😀@@AndrewNewton

Thanks Andrew, switched from Matek411 to SpeedyBeeF405Wing. Smartport worked with the Matekboard. With the SpeedyBee (runs on INAV 6.1.1) I get no values. Is the Tx2 bug with INAV 6.1.1. Fixed?

It's working with 6.1.1 for me. Maybe try flashing with the ssfix hex first then flash to 6.1.1(drive.google.com/file/d/1-2O5ozXk2rnnx6vhMg9DYeUrQKTmxzDf/view?usp=share_link)

Sir, I am facing problem in my speedbee f405, as a result, fly controller was going in dfu mode but now to upgrade the firmware, the control is not going in dfu mode, but I have another speedbee f405 There is wing control, it is going in dfu mode but the other control is not able to go in dfu mode, please help.

Yes, can use any of the spare UARTS. R2 on the left socket would be the obvious choice because it's powered from USB

The receiver specs say it can send SBUS signal. Select Ports - UART2 Serial RX in INAV. Connect from SBUS on the receiver to SBUS on the FC. That's all you can try

Is there a problem with it ? Been flying FrSky for some time and I'm kind of wanting to change my old Taranis but my other point of reference is a couple of friends with Radiomaster TX16s with Crossfire modules and they have experienced troubles with the antenna tracker.

@@thrilleex I lost an aircraft in a forest and found it using an antenna tracker. Only works of your battery is still connected. Otherwise you need a beeper with separate power
