Today at Speedy's Garage I'll show you what engine we went with as the replacement for our blown Hellcat motor. I wanted to stick with something simple, and MOPAR, that was also an upgrade for Go Man Go. This Mopar long block is the same one used in the Dodge Demon and the Hellcat Redeye so it was a no brainer as a factory upgrade option.

Nice job, I'm still in the process of my build. Kinda wish I had gone the route of buying a redeye engine (I'm sure it would've been much faster) but 🤞🏼 I should make 1300 at the rear when I'm done

Good choice. When you go down the rebuild road you never know what's going to turn up. You could have spent a lot of money just to find out you got junk.

Leonard Rice that’s pretty common with new OEM engines, they don’t necessarily want the core as bad as a rebuilder does, they want the core off the market ,thereby eliminating the competition.... this does just that. It is an insurance policy against unplanned expenses Iike rejected cores.

Ok so this is out of the blue but I am looking at a 2010 genesis coupe at Infinity of Omaha and was told that it was previously owned by you. It looks like it’s in great shape but I just wanted to ask you if there were no problems that you had with it. Thanks!

Interestingly, the engine that showed up had black valve covers and if you watched the video you saw what Dodge said to do with those ;)

Gratz Speedy! A couple quick questions. Is there a s/c pulley size difference (Stock) in the Redeye? I thought the Demon/Redeye had a different s/c volume...? How much farther do you think you can push the stock Hellcat s/c?

I reused the Hellcat supercharger off the original engine. The Redeye/Demon supercharger is a 2.7L the Gellcat is 2.3L.

Congrats What are your thoughts on the RedEye Torque C I heard it was a better one than the Hellcat Did you ever experience any vibrations from your DSS ? I’ve been seeing a lot of people complaining and that’s what is being stopping me from installing it

I've not seen any evidence a TC helps these cars. I have no had any vibs from my DSS Aluminum one piece drive shaft up to 165MPH. When you install it you have to pay attention to the index marks.

While the Hellcat Redeye comes standard with a high stall torque converter (providing 18 percent more torque multiplication and 11 percent quicker stall speed) and a 2.62:1 final drive ratio, the Demon's 3.09:1 is an available option.

Went right back with the 2.72 pulley for 93 on the new motor :)

Since you are drowning in low-RPM power, why not go crazy and have 2.25" long-tube headers on it? It's not like anyone writes letters to Dear Abby complaining about how little power these things have at lower RPM, so you would bolster the top of the RPM range, which, obviously, would make it so you'd like to have some stiffer valve springs and titanium retainers, plus a higher redline. More power where you can actually use it, some pioneering and less resistance to flow at the top end where a positive displacement supercharger needs it.

@@SpeedysGarage Yup, but with all the piston failure's ? Think about a short block .010 - .030, over torque plate honed, decked, indexed, etc. I'd use the factory forged crank not a after market $4000 one. Factory rods and pins. But some super blower pistons to replaced the known weak spot OEM ones. Alcohol injection to cool down the pistons and bore ? Just me.

Huge mistake, the redeye motor is no where near as strong or reliable as a forged roating assembly from say mmx or hhp. They still rely on powder forged rods and yes the cooling is improved but u sacrificed allot for that which u could have gotten from an mmx motor. I hope it works out but this has mistake written all over it

We'll see I guess. I've been down the built motor route before and just didn't wanna fool with all that again, plus wait months for it to be built, etc. This was fixed in 15 days from broke to driving again. Demons run 9s on this engine and that's plenty for me.....for now. 😉
