I knew a girl in college who was the exact same way. At this particular university if you lived on campus you were required to buy a meal plan yet this girl did not eat at the student cafeteria one time. I'm assuming that her parents were probably paying her way so she didn't care about the financial aspect.

He never came to visit me and when I was in London he complained if he had to pay for anything for me. By the end, he didn't even make plans for us to do anything fun when I visited...I just came down to go to the supermarket with him and wait at home whilst he was at his expensive gym. Then one day, he went to the gym and left his i-pad at home, which was synced with his phone...and a message popped up from "Amy POF"..... I really hope Caroline dumped her bf. She doesn't have to firesale all her clothes then start buying clothes again but this time on the cheap. Why doesn't she just start wearing all the friggin' clothes she has, and screw the latest trends. There is no latest trends and styles. You just wear what you friggin' wanna wear and you get full mileage from what you've outlaid on. And the University Meals. The pattern I'm seeing here in these shows is that these people who live way beyond their means are trying to be somebody they can't afford to be and celebrity and popular culture are highly to blame for this. Many people lack gratitude for what they have and lack the acceptance that they can't have something because it's not within their means and are underlyingly terrified of what others will think of them. The majority of people are not interested in your clothes etc as they have their own worries to think about. If you always worry what people think you will always be their prisoner. The right people will like you for you, not who you are trying to be so be content with your lot and if you want something, earn more money for it, don't "steal" it using credit cards and then be upset you are in debt.

In Carolyn's case, studying retail management almost guarantees an obsession with labels. It's practically a job requirement for fashion and retail to dress in the right labels. I think she’d make a great children’s book author. She’s aspiring to be like her sister or boyfriend, though she definitely has different talents. Not sure that her bf does her any good. If he’s not keen on travelling to see her, he might not be the right guy for her. Visiting her twice in a year just isn’t good enough. I has boyfriend who flew into my city to see me - even if it was just for 48 hours. If you’re really in love, nothing can get you to stay away.

Yes, most designer pieces are not investments because the look may be in in 10 years or so, but the details have subtlely changed, so your old version won't look so good. On the catwalks, some of the looks are great, but are totally unsuitable for most people's lives. The smaller designers and mid range high street often have wearable looks, better quality and prices. However, if you buy vintage designer at a lower price, you can tweak it by taking it to a tailor/seamstress. I think quality of materials and finishing really matter. Some designery expensive stuff is in and out for a couple of months. For me investment pieces are say cashmere jumpers in a simple style, or a classic trouser in good material. Jackets/blazers might last over years too. Put the best pieces away for a while and they come back in eventually. But people put on/lose weight/change lifestyle/change style. It's silly to spend a fortune on things you rarely wear. All of these clothes can be bought at much lower prices in sales and offers. My system is have a classic look for what you mainly do, and wear. Buy a few crazy pieces you love every so often, and keep them a long time. If they are really different, they will not go out of style. Find your own style and evolve it. I loved that Carolyn did so well as at first she was quite defensive, but then I remembered how young she was! At the end of the process she seemed like she had done a lot of growing up and was much happier.
