It's a fun watch. Don't expect to get some deep profound experience, but it's a good time. Great cast with plenty of funny thrown in, and lots of action.

When post malone played for the first time in a movie, surely he said "wow"

"We're gonna blow this wide open." I wasn't sold until Wahlberg uttered those magnificent words. There's no way a line that cliche was put in this movie without the creators being fully, gleefully aware of how gloriously cliche it is.

Spenser is a reader who quotes literature and historical figures. In my mind, Robert Urich and Avery Brooks still the best Spenser and Hawk. I can't imagine Robert B. Parker would be too thrilled with Peter Berg's interpretation. I don't think I will, either.

Spencer For Hire!!! Thank you for delivering the movie I didn’t know I wanted. As a little kid I loved watching Spencer For Hire reruns.

For those who don't know, this is a 'treatment' of the character(s). In the novels, Spencer's mother died while delivering him. He was raised by his father and his two maternal uncles in Wyoming. Years later he would move to Boston. One of his uncles taught him how to box in his youth. Later he would meet and fight Hawk during a boxing match when they were both teenagers. Soon Spencer would attend college but only for two years, and he played as a Strong Safety on the college football team. He would drop out and join the US Army and go to war [Korea]. But this would change in the TV series. In the Series, he would be an Army Ranger who served in Vietnam. Hawk who had begun life as a street kid and 'stick-up guy' was taken under the wing of a boxing trainer who saw too much rage in such a small child. He trained Hawk to focus his rage in the ring. Years later the readers would find out that during Hawk's attempt to better [educate] himself about the world past the mean streets of Boston, a teacher tried to molest him but stopped short of any actual 'crime'. Although Hawk would get revenge for that teacher's 'actions'. We would also find out that Hawk's mother was murdered and Hawk got revenge on the person who did it. Later Hawk would leave the USA and join the French Foreign Legion. This was changed in the TV series and he would be a former member of Special Forces and would never tell Spencer what he 'actually' did in Vietnam. Soon after serving in the Legion he would become a mercenary overseas and an enforcer and bodyguard in the States. When Spencer finished his enlistment in the US Army he becomes a professional prizefighter. He would meet Hawk again, in the ring (they both train in the same gym) and on the streets. Spencer was a good fighter but not good enough to win against an aging fighter who beat Spencer badly. So Spencer gave up prizefighting and decided to join the Massachusetts State Police. He was a good cop but got fired for insubordination [politics]. He soon decides to become a Private Investigator. He's also a recovering [textbook] alcoholic and a superb cook. Hawk, on the other hand, establishes himself as the one man you don't want, to take an interest in you, if you owe certain people 'things'. Both men describe themselves as 'thugs' but everyone knows they are not. Spencer is rough around the edges but is a scholar at heart and hilariously self-deprecating. Hawk pretends to be a "hardcore gangsta" but is actually quite intelligent, respects the law, has a distinct moral code, but doesn't trust cops and above all else is loyal to Spencer and Spencer's "Girl of his dreams" Dr. Susan Silverman, along with Paul (Spencer's adopted nephew and Mattie a hard as nails but soft as cotton teenager). Then we have "Pearl the Wonder Dogs", (read the books) and a host of other supporting characters. The best way to describe both men is Spencer is a Knight Errant always searching for 'meaning' in his shady profession. Hawk is a Ronin, masterless but with a strict code of right and wrong. Both men are honorable, courageous, lover of donuts, and badass. Although they never agree on everything they don't hurt people for fun. Although neither would admit it, they both love each other. It is like a soldier's camaraderie and Susan is the glue that binds them. She is in love with Spencer and loves Hawk like a brother, maybe more so. I don't know what this Netflix travesty is.

*Wow* Post looks like a *Rockstar* in this. He's definitely doing much *Better Now.* I hope he doesnt *Fall Apart* after this. He's really blossomed into a *Sunflower* as an artist. His mom should be proud, I hope she said *Congratulations* anyway, *Goodbye*
