I would say this Economic Bee Hoon is the real Singapore Noodles. Contrary to popular belief of non Singapoerans, our stir fried rice noodles are fried without curry powder. This bihun is commonly available at most coffeeshops in Singapore. The stall owners will usually fry the beehoon as is and they offer a wide variety of sides for us to choose from. You can enjoy these noodles with fried luncheon meat, otar, fried egg or fishcake etc. Basically anything that you like. Hope you find this recipe easy. Happy cooking!

Ingredients:
Serves 4 pax

120ml water
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
1/3 teaspoon sugar
A few dashes of white pepper
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Other ingredients

3 cloves of garlic (chopped)
200g beansprouts
200g vermicelli (soak in room temperature water for 20 - 30 mins)
2 tablespoons premium dark soy sauce

Back when I was living in Singapore, bee hoon was one of my go to breakfast dish, there's an Untie's stall down at my building food court and always keep one box for me. I miss Singapore 😭😭

Thank you for the recipe. I grew up eating this. My dad used to tapao for us from the morning market. They also used to add some rectangular dark crunchy salty fried stuff. I have no idea what it was but it was so tasty with the behoon. Maybe it was pork skin

I just love this sauce…not too overpowering!! I had left over vermicelli on hand and I just stir fried it in a small amount of oil, butter and soy sauce. The noodles were just a little dry and crunchy. Tonight I made your recipe and the noodles stayed a little too soft, similar to spaghetti. I believe I goofed up by soaking the. Vermicelli in boiling water and even though I dried them on a paper towel I should have just let them soak longer in warm water. In any case, this recipe is packed with great flavor.👍🏻❗️

Can I request for the white version as well? There’s a stall in Bishan who does white bee Hoon different from elsewhere, served as breakfast dish with the other black noodles, bee Hoon etc, but the taste is very different, not like the normal white bee Hoon. My childhood favourite and still till today I can’t find anywhere that has the same taste.

Hi, I used your recipe today on fried bee hoon and my gf likes it so much! Thanks man! But can I ask what's the use of adding 120ml water into premix sauce?

I tried and the Bee Hoon really tasted good. Thank you very much Roland. Just that it's really not easy to make the bee hoon mixed well with the dark sauce. Any other easier way to solve this ?

Same. I tried it today and there are many patches of bee hoon that are still white no matter how i stir. I ended up adding more dark soy sauce and the bee hoon is kinda over salty
