Celebrities too. People can now, with the help of social media, see through the loophole so they recognise elitistic behaviour and mentalities and ingenuity, from the production teams to the celebs in the crowd and this extreme transparency on the reality of things like Coachella has literally lead to the disenchantment and deconstruction of celebrity status. We're watching this particular industry change so drastically, due to technology's meteoric progress, the social media addiction and the rise of AI in all aspects of life along with the disturbing inflation of the cost of living in general, to the point that it will completely enhiliate celebrity as a status, a whole concept and as a job field. The future will be ready player one type of insane. I for real believe it. So Coachella is just collateral damage, when, at this point it can be at your place, with just a click on your screen. Humanity can't afford to live anymore but we sure as hell can afford KZfaq, so we prefer convenience and simulation of the lived experience. Because after all the true lived experience can be a shxt one. Avoidance is our present and future. For real. And can you blame us? @@wasabi.2839 well way way way back it really used to be truly a place only people that were into the Indy music scene went to. Like more unknown bands and low key artists in LA. Then Indy music became “comercial” and super popular with bands like Mgmt reaching actual comercial fame and then some huge celebrities started going (Vanessa hudgens, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, etc) and at first it was innocent enough and they were all in shorts and flower crowns but then the outfits started to get more competitive and then the influencers showed up and it became about who had the most elaborate, uncomfortable costume and the most deadly impractical heels in the middle of the dessert and you could tell nobody cared about the actual music anymore (nobody would even post about whos set they were at, just their outfits) and the crowds were there just for the chance of running into their favorite celebrity/influencer so the people that were into the music stopped going and that’s how we end up with inauthentic events that are just meant to cause online buzz and have low ticket sales cause there’s no point in going and the target audience isn’t clear anymore.

I live in Arkansas and saved up almost $2k because I wanted to see ONE single artist at Lolla back in 2014. It was very impulsive of me... I BEGGED my grandparents to drive me because I was not confident enough to drive that 12 hours or in the city of Chicago. They didn't know this but tickets had been sold out for months so I was just crossing my fingers that I would find a Sunday ticket on StubHub or Craigslist. That Sunday, they dropped me off in front of the festival and I was frantically trying to text/meet up with this stranger from Craigslist for a $175 ticket then this random man walked up to me and asked, "Girl, you need a wristband? S100." It was SO much fucking fun! It rained and they gave us free ponchos, everybody was so cool and casually smoking mad weed in the audience lmao... I guess that's not that shocking anymore but it was my first real festival. My grandma started blowing up my phone wanting to head back to Arkansas so unfortunately I only stayed like an hour and a 1/2. As I was walking out of the festival, this soaking wet teenage boy ran up to me and casually asked if I was leaving for good and then very politely asked if I would be willing to give him my wristband bc he was broke and bored. For just a split second I wanted to say no bc of the memorabilia but he just wanted to hear some music and dance in the rain so I let him have it. He gave me a great big hug! Anyway, what I REALLY loved was A LOT of the artists on the Lolla lineup did their own shows all throughout the weekend at the surrounding concert venues! The artist I saw (Glen Hansard) played Lolla AND kidzapallooza on Sunday afternoon but he had just done a whole ass concert less than 12 hours before that! He literally sang over 26 songs at... The Metro? Or Metro Chicago? Idk if that's normal around other festivals but I thought it was so fucking cool and smart. Sorry for this long ass comment, just seeing you mention Lollapalooza sent my brain a rush of happy flashbacks and I guess I needed to... do whatever the opposite of trauma dumping is called. idk. Also, a bunch of people were warning me about "the people" in Chicago... how horrible they would treat me, that they would push me down and steal the shoes off my feet? wtf.. I did not experience that at all. Everyone I interacted with was really cool and extra friendly. PLUS I only went with $2k, I payed for literally everything on the trip and still had over $700 when I got home. Damn this shit is long af I am so sorry. omg

Coachella has just become more overrated over the years, they charge more and more and fail to deliver. For people who want to attend festivals I think Lollapalooza is so much more worth it; for the price, it’s 4 days, you’re inside the city so you don’t really have to camp out you can leave and take the metro or bus anywhere or come back. Some of the headliners this year like Tyler are also going to be there, Lana was there last year 🤷🏻♀️ I have really not gotten the hype with coachella the last few years if you ask me I think they overcharge since celebrities pop in casually or influencers go but as a festival experience it falls so short and disappoints.

I went last year and spent a total of $2k. It was fun but its not worth the money. So many people were acting like they didnt care for the artists and the vibe was horrible. I would go again though if I had the money but I dont.😅

@@user-hw5ys6ng1l yes girl THANKYOU! the novelty of seeing a celebrity sure dies off when you can barely afford to eat! And yeah as an artist who works for FREE for massive festivals, with the ticket as “pay” --they literally grind us down to the bone and think just giving us a free ticket is ok, when the profits are enormous and the entire event wouldn’t happen if stage techs/artists refused to work for free tickets. As you said, we still loose. Even if the tickets free. Its never just the initial ticket costs as you said, it’s overpriced drinks, food, clothes, tents etc-actually getting there -“spending money”, and inhumane rules like not even being allowed to even bring in your own water 🤦the money and profits huge companies make is absolutely criminal. Boomtown in the uk is a really good one for that. Festivals aside, this world let’s face it is depressing af atm. I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees it.

@@Scary_pizza_sauce I know that, that’s not the point I was trying to make. There’s no excuses for anything she’s said or done but for that situation I was talking about I think people have been unfair to her. I also don’t think she hates her fans.. she hates the obsessive crazy people who have fan pages and post every detail of her life and act like she owes them something for just existing. She likes the normal people who respect her privacy, listen and sing to her music and respect her as an artist. I don’t agree with everything she’s done but I respect her as an artist and she’s interesting

You can't always listen to bad reviews, I've been studying Coachella for years and it's mainly for people who are not picky about different music genres and the experience when it comes to Coachella knowing that it's going to be a long period, people who have high expectations should educate themselves before going there, I really wanna go there so bad, and it's expensive as hell.

Four words: Cost Of Living Crisis. People can barely afford to eat and pay rent, to throw away hundreds of dollars just for festival tickets, then hundreds more on outfits and accommodation is a luxury less and less people can afford in this current global fiscal crisis.
