A clockwork orange had complex themes and effed up characters, but there was no exposition scene and that lack of exposition made it one of the greatest movies of all time. Same goes for stuff like 2001 a space odyssey. I'm not saying exposition is inherently bad( excellent in the last scene of psycho). I'm just saying you're wrong.

I definitely didn't feel the same way, but mostly because of the way the psychologist presents DID during the Skype scene. It was very Hollywood and unrealistic. I personally thought the movie would have been better off without a ridiculous, pretentious talk about whether DID can, and I quote, "unlock the full potential of the human brain". Two women talk about how it reminds them of something else from years ago. Then Bruce Willis' character from Unbreakable appears and lets them know that they're thinking of Mr. Glass. Movie ends. Unbelievable. Incredible. Fantastic. Amazing. I've seen a lot of movies, and I mean a LOT. But I've never had the reaction I had when that happened. I literally shouted out loud, "NO WAY! THAT'S NOT...IT CAN'T....WHAT THE FLIP?!" Freaking blew my mind man.

Sharky McShark I agree that unbreakable was more overlooked than underrated. I think that Signs was presented (as usually in every Shyamalan movie) as a horror movie, so maybe people got dissappointed by finding another kind of film.

David Baines - To understand the movie and APPRECIATE what it's trying to do, yes you do. If you haven't seen Unbreakable, the ending makes no sense. The incredible and unbelievable things that happen as the movie progresses makes more sense when you realize they tie in with Unbreakable.

It's great. There were some complaints that it's "style over substance", but it's a multilayered film which does have a lot of substance. Most stylized movies today get that label undeservedly.

Agreed, I love "The Village", way more than "Signs" tbh. I like that the film misleads you into who the main protagonist is and by the time you follow her you are invested in her to succeed with her mission.

ArgoX2007 Agreed, I love The Village so much. I think it's M.Night's best, and way better than his those overrated garbages like Sign & Sixth Sense. But I understand why a lot of people didn't love The Village as much as I do, because of the twist. So many people expected it to be like supernatural answer to the story, and what they saw is simple and too nice. I thought that ending was make sense to the whole story, and very good pay-off why the elderly don't want to be a part of society anymore. To be fair, The Village is my favorite, as much as Sign meant to Stuckmann. I gave it an A+.

I loved Bryce Dallas Howard's performance.

It might have been the twist, but personally I think it wasn't well liked because of it being marketed as a straight up horror, when it was much more of a love story. I really didn't like it the first time I watched it, but since then I keep in mind what type of movie it really is and enjoy it far more.
