Yenta/Yente is a yiddish name which in America has the slang connotation of referring to a gossip or a meddlesome woman. The most well known reference to this is probably the matchmaker character Yente in the musical Fiddler on the Roof, but that character's name was a reference to earlier yiddish language theater and radio comedy sketches featuring "annoying" women characters with these names, who'd act in ways which then became linked the colloquial sense of the name. WEIRD pull for mister krabs and I can't say for sure but i feel like this isn't the first time he's been written to use super specific jewish vernacular colloquialisms ???

I caught an episode a bit ago where SpongeBob and Squidward have to do a series of quests in order to apprehend Bubble Bass because he has a huge overdue tab of the Krusty Krab. The insane part is, at the end, Bass's mom is the final quest. It's basically a bull fight and she's the bull. Anyways, in the fight she crushes the two of them with her ass, and she uses each cheek to bash their brains in. I wasn't ready, and that's how I know you aren't making ANY of this up.

Over-reliance on legacy characters is one of my main gripes with current SpongeBob, but the insistence on making Orlok/Nosferatu a recurring one is especially frustrating. He worked perfectly as a goofy little non-sequitur at the end of Graveyard Shift; having him be a secondary character to the point where there are entire episodes based on him misses the point of that one-off gag in a way that honestly baffles me.

Random land looks and sounds like someone trying and failing to imitate Dr. Seuss. The dirty aesthetic is not doing it any favors and the flat landscape feels barren for a place literally called random land. By contrast Dr. Seuss has made several colorful chaotic environments that still have a sense of whimsy in them and had environments that felt expansive and alive.

Also, while the references like Nosferatu, chinatown, etc are weird, that does at least kinda date back to the original good ones, like the movie's badguy was an elaborate pastiche of the bad guy from Raising Arizona, you know, by the Cohen brothers? You guys should do "Patrick Star Boys" where you watch episodes of The Patrick Star Show for further torture. It doesn't have the same restrictions that modern Spongebob does and they do even more insane shit there. One episode has Patrick and Spongebob show a depressed kid how to have fun only to make him depressed again because having fun was too dangerous
