@@zalapski9399 Lol they really came out to cut down the angles. Different style of goaltending. It was really like that until basically the early 90s. Just at that time the sticks and gloves were getting better, but the skates were not there yet either for the goalies or forwards, but the forward skates were better then the goalie skates and pads. I do not think they could play the butterfly even if they wanted to. But a lot of 80s goalies did succeed into the 2000s Vernon and Roy come to mind. @@rileysevern1968 according to the NHL’s ruling on the goal, pushing the puck forward did not constitute an attempt at gaining possession, and he does not actually cross the blue line and take control of the puck in the offensive zone until Nichushkin has tagged up and come back onside. Once Nichushkin was deemed to have properly exited the zone, Makar gained sufficient control of the puck for it to be considered possession, making his zone entry and ensuing goal onside. “It was determined that Colorado’s Valeri Nichushkin legally tagged up at the blue line before Cale Makar entered the offensive zone with the puck on his stick. Your team is going to lose. Your coach is going to get trapped into playing the same game CGY did, limiting your offence in lieu of playing more defensively, and all it's going to do is prevent two goals a game against at the expense of scoring six or more and outscoring the Oilers. Good luck, you're going to need it.

@@jimbob6270 most of the oilers success this game came from our mistakes and not the oilers success, we should have kept our 7-3 lead. I think the ones who need the luck are the oilers. Calgary started the series by playing their game which is hitting, which they were winning with when their coach decided to try and out run the oilers and play a fast game which backfired. The avs definitely got this series if we stop making stupid plays and hopefully not let in stupid goals. @camerondening66832 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not, Kosk is way to much of a risk amd Smith always plays his best after being pulled or having a bad game…. game 1 lose to LA Game 1 loss to Calgary he came back and was good. With that said Smitty amd EDMs goaltending is what is going to loose this series. I was pissed they didn’t even make some attempt at the dead line but truth is this team has needed to address the goaltending situation for 3 or more years now…since Talbot in 2017, Management had dropped the ball hard on this, if EDM has a true #1 they would be unstoppable, scoring goals in not the issue, amd there have been a lot of goals in these playoffs that a true number doesn’t let in especially this time a year… thank god the Oil can usually out score Smiths mistakes. I’m not saying that the OIL can’t win it’s just gonna take Smith pulling something out of his ass to do so, if your team scores 6 and you loose that’s on the goalie, a true #1 makes timely saves that he has no business saving and this time of year you need those from your goalie, like the 3rd goal amd 4th you can’t let those in, the shots are 5ft or more out those are expected to be saved amd if you can’t you’re not a #1… but smith is in his 40s and he’s grinding so i hope he can pull it together, the boys are scoring almost at will so he doesn’t need to post shutouts just make some keys saves.

That offside / onside call made me loose it. I hope many people get fired over this, although i doubt it. To be suggesting, that Makar did not have possession....that is pure insanity.

So disgusting, I said the same. Everyone involved in that decision should be fired. Can’t have that crap in hockey, let alone the playoffs.
@jefflarson16522 жыл бұрын
Has the NHL ever admitted a mistake? Those two "rules expert" clowns they have on the neutral broadcasts (ESPN/TNT) are just shills for the referees. They see the play one way and then totally agree with the final call even if it isn't what they thought it was going to be.

Please. The defense on the oilers were at times drowsy and unaware of the situation. No different than triple teaming McDavid, creating gaps at the Colorado net. Plus obvious offsides that are ruled ok. Gonna be an awful series.

Don't really think anyone should be disappointed by a 8-6 Scoreline in the western conference final game. OT wouldn't have been fair to either fan base, you have 3 periods to slug it out and then no team gets a response in OT. Let it be a thriller in regular time.

I am a oilers fan and I hope Oilers win the second game. Oilers need to watch what Avalanche can do and what we can do to control them. It is a close game. Today Mike Smith is not on the top of his game. Oilers hasn’t displayed their full potential yet. I believe Oilers will inspire us for sure. Keep on fighting,one game a time.

@@Rino37 yeah, there’s a big difference between standing on the blue line waiting for a player to tag up vs skating into the zone at full speed with the puck leaving the stick at the time of tag up though. What’s done is done but I think it was a bad call

People in comments seem to forget each series ,and game even, is unique. Each team got through defensive minded teams like the Kings and Blues, but they are offense first identities. Don't be so quick to hand the cup to the East and keep your ESPN bias at home.
