My sisters and I were unschooled and my older sister didn’t learn how to read until she was 11, then she loved reading so much that she read 800 books by the time she was 18. I didn’t learn algebra til I was like 15, then I loved math so much I got a physics degree. Unschooling might not work/be the best option for everyone but it worked for me and my sisters!

Also pro tip RE: duvet cover- 1. turn duvet cover inside out. 2. Place blanket directly on top of duvet, matching corner to corner. 3. Get some thin rubber bands or hair ties. 4. take two ends of the corners of the duvet + blanket and securely wrap the band around until it’s firmly in place; repeat each order. 5. Find opening of duvet (like where it buttons or zips shut), reach inside to grab the furthest corners to pull them through the opening. 6. Turn closest two corners inside out. 7. Grab ahold of whatever corners to shake/air out to evenly distribute blanket throughout duvet. 8. Secure zipper/buttons shut and voila! Really helps eliminate that infuriating bunching process of blanket vs. duvet round 647. You’re welcome.

In Filipino culture, we start decorating for Christmas September 1st ❤ so I think it’s whatever makes you happy. It’s a way for me to celebrate my Lolo and heritage! I recommend watching Anthony Bourdain’s Part’s Unknown on the Philippines if you’re interested in seeing how Filipinos celebrate Christmas 🤩

At 44 minutes, I feel like there have been a lot of discussions in the media about generational wealth recently, especially in cities where it’s harder and harder to buy a house without being a child of a wealthy parent. I didn’t think it was a weird question at all and I’m kind of surprised bekah and Evan were confused. It has been on my mind a lot lately because all of my cousins live in houses bought by their parents and my husband and I rent a small apartment (No hate btw, loved this episode)
@kaylas717
@kaylas717 Жыл бұрын
I dont blame them, it was a loaded question... fair for who? I'd say it's a matter of perspective. I suppose it isnt fair for children who do not have a choice of what family they are born into. Would it be fair if parent A worked hard and made smart financial decisions and parent B spent their money on drugs and prostitutes, contributing basically nothing to society, but parent A doesnt have the right to choose where their money goes after they die? At time of death the government takes $1mil from parent A and $5 from parent B. That doesnt seem fair. Also, we inherit more than just money...mental and physical traits, diseases, etc. Is it fair that one child inherited a disease and another didnt? No, definitely not. Should we remove a limb from the privileged child to level the playing field? No.

@@kaylas717 yeah, I know people fall on both sides of this issue and I’m more liberal than most on it. I think it was more confusing to me that the question itself seemed weird to them and like maybe they hadn’t considered it before, because in my sphere and in the media I consume, it’s talked about a lot. But I guess I might just be in my own bubble
@kaylas717

@@erikao3982 I'm liberal on most issues, but havent heard that in the media except for as it relates to systemic racism. Although I am really trying my best to not listen to the media about political stuff for the sake of my mental health. 🤣 Its so chaotic and exhausting lately.

In Canada, Thanksgiving is in early October, so we generally have free will as of November 1st. However, many choose to wait until after Remembrance Day, aka Veterans Day out of respect. So we usually enjoy the process by the end of November. My trees are themed every year, and I enjoy planning and shopping for ornaments, decor, etc. My opinion is to each their own. Do you and what makes you happy!
