Just to clarify a couple things here. This fire was on March 23rd,not March 22nd. Mutual aid even came from as far as the FDNY,not just Rockland. Also with this if the fire alarms in the building were working and connected to county central dispatch and the whole sprinkler system was working in the building this fire would have been a lot more under control and probably wouldn't have been so deadly. Rest easy brother,we got it from here.

Couple of thoughts 1. RIP FF Lloyd 2. it amazes me that the standardized ICS being used by so many depts is not in use. In RC. 3. Piecemeal dispatch of companies is so ridiculous. This is like listening lost in time. That the IC has to call for individual companies and standbys is a burden on the IC 4. He’ll of a job and amazing bravery displayed by all

As for point 2, I believe it was, it just didn't sound like it because of the way the recording was made (multiple channels recorded) And you have to note that command was very calm and not freaking out, goes to his training. As for point 3, I would have to agree, perhaps they do not have run cards with alarm levels in Rockland, I know they do in Orange county. What Im wondering is, and Im going by my experiences in CT where 5 out of the 8 counties have essentially county fire dispatch. Does Rockland have Tanker Task Forces? If this was CT, and I heard that what we were getting for water was all the water company could give you, In CT you call for a tanker task force, and 5 tankers are on the way, need more, call for a additional tanker task force, and dispatch has 10 alarms worth of apparatus to call upon, or a strike team of 5 engines and a chief. Does dept in Rockland have apparatus with LDH capability? In CT every county has at least 1 LDH truck that can lay a mile and change of 5" hose if water gets tight. I would also like to point out, that as the severity of the fire became known, pretty sure every department in Rockland was manned up, whether toned out or not, and when departments were called, they were on the air with crews pretty damn quick, or it seemed like it. As for refueling/DPF fluid replenishing, that would be planned for at the county level, since they have fore coordinators, and perhaps this was never thought of. You should never hear, we don't have a account. One last thing about dispatch, people want to compare to FDNY, before 9-11, dispatch run cards only went to 5 alarms, now they go to 10 alarms, so you never have to hear Brooklyn fire dispatch tell a battalion chief, I owe you 8 engines. What they did, and how they did it worked for them, and they did a great job, RIP to the fallen fire fighter

These audio's are edited so what you hear isn't the actual time frame ontop of other channels being used. Other audio's I've heard on this job most definitely has the ICS being used. It's always easier to critique an incident After the fact but it's what we learn from.

@@kristofersmith5476 This area of Rockland County normally doesn’t need tankers. Also, despite multiple engines being called tankers, like 17-Tanker, there’s really only one proper tanker in the county. The others are called “tanker” because they carry enough water to be considered engine-tankers. Rockland County uses a very unique numbering system. Signal 12 Wiki has a rundown of what the designations mean, but generally, if you see something like 17-1750 or 17-1000, that’s an engine, and the second number is the pump size in GPM. 17-Tower would be a tower ladder. 10-98 and 10-99 are both 100-foot ladders, with the second number representing ladder length.

Rockland County is all volunteer departments- 26 of them. The Coordinators work for Rockland County Department of Fire & Emergency Services, and respond in particular to incidents involving multiple agencies and/or departments. Unlike battalion chiefs, etc., while they are part of the command staff as incident management goes, the Chief of the fire district is normally the incident commander. Coordinators assist with operations on scene, help with mutual aid assignments, help to coordinate and call up additional resources, and the like. According to New York State Law, the fire chief is ultimately responsible for command of the incident, and can delegate tasks and assignments as appropriate, including the use of coordinators and the chiefs and officers of mutual aid departments.

@@DWBmotorsports You have got to be kidding with this comment right? You think everywhere has the ability and the money to have a paid department? This department and the surrounding departments did a fantastic job with what they were faced with. A Firefighter was killed along with a resident of the building, you are part of that group who constantly think just because its a volunteer department that things aren't done correctly. The Nearest company was 3 minutes away and this fire was already long out of control by the time patrol pulled up. The Volunteers had a great response time, so maybe instead of bashing them for being volunteer you go join a department and see what its actually like. In Fact 67% of departments in the US are Volunteers! I wonder what you would have done differently here?
