I realize this is an old video, but in case someone reads the comments for more tips, I want to pass on an easy way to break up the clumped drills that were addressed at around 18:30. If you put them in your tray & shake to spread them around, then put another tray on top of them. With the trays sitting on the tabletop, you can press down on the bottom of the upper tray. The drills will pop apart. You can hear them popping and you will know it is working. Just move your fingers around to all the parts of the bottom of the upper tray. Then, check the lower tray for clumps. If there are still clumps, shake them around, and repeat the process till all your clumps are fixed! If this isn't your first diamond painting, you probably have plenty of trays to use for this purpose.

This is the same method I use to separate drills which are stuck together. I'm too impatient to wash and dry little drills. LOL!!

Thank you for doing this video! Even though it is 4 years old, I found it very helpful. I wish I had seen it sooner. I’ve never tried Dreamer Designs, so I watched a bunch of videos, because they have designs I love. Unfortunately, they are mostly squares, and while I found good reviews for their round drills, the same can’t be said about their square drills. So I ended up purchasing from the company I am familiar with. Yours looks lovely though!

I have to say I prefer round drills.

The canvases I've used with round drills have the same background coloring as the drills which are placed in a specific area. In other words, if you are placing green drills on leaves on a tree the background is green where the leaves are. So having the small gaps do not show up as large as the placement you showed. Obviously, the print color would show through on your example because you placed a different drill color than the background color of the canvas. I also noticed on my canvas that tiny sparkles are either on the canvas itself or perhaps in the glue (I have no way to know which) and these tiny sparkles help the picture "twinkle" when they show between the round drills little gaps. I do understand, however, that you used a different color background than the drill color to demonstrate the gaps when using round drills. Thank you for the tips. 🤗

Thanks for all tips, especially using a straightening tool. Something I've found that helps me keep them straight with the multiplacer tool is working vertically rather than horizontally.

A tip I saw from another video for stuck together drills. Put the drills in a tray and place another tray on top and squish them down and around. I have personally tried it, but wanted to pass that along

this is the best diamond painting tips ever exist in KZfaq but why did KZfaq never put this one when i used their search engine. i found this by luck after been clicking countless diamond videos. the title werent the problem tho. literally feel bad for beginners who cant find this

I have done this but it takes to long, so I use just a tiny bit of baby powder in the jar and give it a good shake.. When your done placing your beads use a damp cloth and wipe over your painting and all the powder will be gone and your diamond's will sparkle...

I have a straightener tool but most any flat edge works, like expired gift cards and such. Also, rather than wash my drills I just use another tray and squish them between trays.

Help i got my first square diamonds. Is there a simple way to place each individually or do I need to use the other end of pen to place. Also, am I supposed to add glue at that long end of pen?

Thank you for the video. Now for one on lefthanded people Diamond painting with square drills for the first time. I was working a Diamond painting called Butterfly Orchid Fantasy by Sandra Trubin from Dreamer Designs. Being lefthanded and ADHD, I started overthinking each and every square drill. Had to put away until later. Help!

Lots of good tips. I think I’ve been spoiled by Dreamer Designs. I started another painting yesterday, from China. The canvas stays rolled up until you actually straighten it and the drills! I got used to your drills’ quality so when I saw all these holes, tabs and hollows I am regretting starting it.

One trick I use and have seen in videos is to pull up the cover on each corner, one at a time, and smooth it back down. This usually will flatten your painting out.

I am a very beginner... and I don't understand where the wax, or I got the blu-tack, comes in. If you press the pen into the blu-tack or wax, and then pick up a drill, the adhesive will be on the wrong side! Can you explain? Do you just put them on the sticky canvas and forget the other adhesive? Thank you very much if you can answer!

Hi Betsy! The wax is meant to go into the tip of you pen so that you can pick up the diamonds and then place them onto the adhesive flat side down. The wax will not transfer onto the diamond it is just sticky enough to pick the diamond up. The adhesive should be sticky enough to hold the diamond when you lift your pen. Are you working with a Dreamer Designs canvas kit?

Sometimes bits of wax squeeze out On your diamonds when placing them. I just run a bit of the wax over the diamonds and it generally cleans that bit of excess off.

Do you have trouble with two different sizes of Square beads? In the Diamond Art Club there is TWO types of Square SHAPES. One is very nice and flat and shines. However there is a SECOND Shape! Its more of a hexagon its NOT as pretty!! Have you seen these?
