This is an instructional video on how not to behave towards refs during PSA matches if you don't want to give away conduct strokes! Especially on your game balls!

Thanks for lesson Mr Parker. At my infinitely lower level I have often behaved like this and we are horribly wrong to do so. At 75 I'm trying to grow up.... hope you get going sooner. Cheers.

Maybe it’s the camera angle? 1st is a Stroke to Ghosal and the 2nd looks to be a stroke to Parker.
@robc86452 жыл бұрын
The first call was a stroke but the second call was terrible - plus a very unnecessary conduct stroke.
@antonybateson90602 жыл бұрын
I didn't hate the let call ... opponent was working hard at clearing and Parker was very quick to stop ... too many people play to get a stroke and sometimes the ref has to reign it in ... not to say a stroke there would have been outrageous either

Whats this rubbish, because someone is trying get out the way he should be granted a let. You play people into bad positions to win the game as long as its fair on your part, you don't play the to give competors favours. He has a bad attitude and temper and being to passionate does not help, but fair is fair. I often think players should not play safe and then these blind dumb refs will learn to understand the game better

The first decision, not only did GP not clear, he deliberately stepped into Ghosals line. Very good refereeing

In the ref’s defence this might have been after numerous little incidents from Parker earlier in the match anyway. Looks like they’re well into the match

Parker will never be a top 10 player based on his attitude and skills. He is a journeyman, participating in every tournament but will never be an impactful player. nor a respected one. He has a few years of top level squash left in him and he will fade out, only to be remembered as a grumpy, low class has been.

GP has a reputation for this behaviour and needs to curtail it. In the first example GP did try to clear but SG impeded his movement, the drive was not tight to the wall and was a relatively easy get for SG, so a stroke was the correct decision. Equally SG did not clear and played a poor shot in the second example, it should have been a stroke. We are all human, we make mistakes as players and markers. GP needs to accept this to improve his game.

In the first situation, Parker stepped back, which is the normal course of action. In the 2nd, that is a stroke all day long. Was that let decision reviewed at all? There needs to be referee reviews of decisions and they deserve repercussions of some type for bad calls. After the 2nd situation, I would have forfeited and walked off the court. No thanks.....
@louisemanuatu73122 жыл бұрын
He said she said, he saw she saw. Who decides what a bad call is? You step back in any "normal course of action", it'll still be a stroke if (A) your shot was not tight enough, and subsequently (B) your clearing attempt is then deemed insufficient. Stating that stepping back as a "normal course of action" - and then interpreted this statement as a Let only - simply takes into account a small percentage of the the events that actually occurred. Walking off the court is the easy way out and more of an unfortunate indictment on you than anything else. These calls weren't bad and I'm sure that in our playing careers we've seen a lot worse, and perhaps some of those deserve a walk off. But this referee was trying to explain his decisions to a player who asked for explanations and then proceeded to talk over him and dismiss it. Clearly he disagreed with the calls and just as clear was his obvious frustration. But in a sport where - despite the guidelines and workshops for Qualified Referees - so much of the interference incidence is still decided upon subjectively, all referees simply do the best they can and call on what they see, not what the players want. George needs to find a way to pull his head in before he finds himself conceding conduct matches during the warm up.
@spreg2002 Жыл бұрын
We should not promoting refs bad decisions regardless of the past,the game needs improve. You often see the crowd disagree with the refs for poor decisions. Addmittingly GP needs to have decipline and composure for a pro and use his opportunities for his strength, but loosing cool is not.

Regardless of whether you agree with a decision, you don't get to scream at the referee, laugh directly at him, throw your racket and ask him 'what are you doing' and not expect repercussions. Blatant disrespect, and the ref did a great job staying composed and following the code of conduct. Can't believe how many people are commenting that the ref was in the wrong.
@robpearson84432 жыл бұрын
ref made the wrong call then didn't explain it, refs a joke here
@SquashGearReviews2 жыл бұрын
@@robpearson8443whether or not they give an explanation, the ref's decision is final and they almost always have to stick with it - if they overturn their decision based on a player's reaction then all hell breaks loose in the following points. It sucks, but I (and likely many others) have given a bad decision in the past and have had to stand my ground, otherwise you'll look weak as a referee and inevitably anger both players even moreso in the long run.
@firstwavenegativity63792 жыл бұрын
They can both be wrong. The second decision was ridiculous
@Schwaligan2002 Жыл бұрын
I see many comments saying the 2nd call should be a stroke. It's a stroke only if GP could have hit SG with that ball. The time GP asked for a let, the ball was too high and SG would have cleared by the time GP hits the ball. The call could even be a "no let". GP is lucky to get a safety "let".

Regardless if either decision was the right call or not. The question is about parkers behaviour in any game. Terrible attitude on court 90% of the time.

PSA refs make way too many mistakes for my liking, The sport is already so shit in terms of prize money and all. You should understand these players are giving everything they’ve got and with the amounts of mistakes they make players are bound to lose their shit sometimes. There is no rule that holds refs accountable for shit calls , why is that?
@spreg2002 Жыл бұрын
You are a 100% right, I also think they protect these refs to much. Often they are not watching the match and making up decisions that don't make no sense...

It’s outburst tantrums like Parker’s that gives squash a bad name and keeps it the hell out of the Olympics.
@SquashGearReviews2 жыл бұрын
It really isn't the reason squash isn't in the Olympics. It's 100% to do with money and a stubborn committee, and very little else. People can't surely think someone from the IOC is sat behind a laptop watching obscure squash videos and going 'yeah, it's definitely not for us'. Every single sport has players arguing with referees. This referee was spot on to hand out the conduct stroke - you can't blatantly disrespect the ref like that and expect no repercussions. Look at sports such as rugby where the referees are firm with players - there's a mutual respect and it's brilliant to see.

I think it was 3 things with the conduct stroke: - the reaction, laughing at the ref - asking "what are you doing" - ""throwing"" the racquet The three together could warrant a conduct warning and since he already had one from a couple rallies before.
