Hello Jennifer! Nice to see you! Thanks a lot for a green lesson:) I've learned a lot. Excuse me. I have a question. Every day I encounter tons of new English words. Again and again. Sometimes I think this process is endless. How many words does one need to know to feel free when using English?
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
Even native speakers don't know all the words in the English language. You need to learn high frequency words. For example, when I write my texts for the Oral Reading Fluency series, I used high frequency words from the General Service List. That has about 2,000 of the most common words in English. You need to know those words. You can also Google exercises for the Academic Word List and/or the University Word List if you wish to boost your academic vocabulary. You can look at those words and see how familiar you are with them. Many of those words may be part of your passive vocabulary, not your active vocabulary. That's okay. Little by little, more will become active. Don't go crazy learning idioms. It's not worth it. Pick up idioms in a meaningful way. As for phrasal verbs, I'm building the new playlist, and I'm covering the most common ones. This is based on research, so I'm not guessing. :)

@@Englishwithjennifer Thank you so much for your reply to my question! I got it. I'm going to look through these lists and check my knowledge of the words from them. English has tons of root words. That delivers a problem when we learn this language.

Green is the color of Ireland's sports shirts, and the color also appears on their flag. There are many shades of green, and, as we saw, there's lots of figurative speech that refers to the color. We can also be "Given the green light," which means "Go ahead."
@Englishwithjennifer

Yes, I considered adding that one, but in the end, I opted for others. There's always St. Patrick's Day 2022!

What benefits one would receive after Patreon membership compared to free subscriber on KZfaq
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. There are different levels on Patreon. The perks start at $10/month. My Super Members get at least one bonus video a month with suggested tasks. (This month they'll get two.) They get at least two live group classes each month. The Zoom session is 30-40 minutes. Microphones and cameras are turned on. I share the recording, the lesson notes, and suggested practice tasks afterwards. The KZfaq livestream is 60 minutes minimum. Tomorrow we're meeting for 90 minutes minimum. All members were invited to submit short movie reviews. Tomorrow we'll do live editing and I'll offer Q&A. Members have also received bonus materials, including movie reviews that I created. These are audio recordings with a transcript, vocabulary notes, and discussion questions. Members have also been able to send private messages to me with occasional questions (though not daily correspondence). Top levels allow for private videos calls (20 or 60 minutes). www.patreon.com/englishwithjennifer

@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I like to spread out the idioms. :) I taught "green thumb" back in 2007. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idNjiM5q2L2WlWw.html I also focused on gardening in 2010. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jtOnl5SWmtypcp8.html I'll likely do a St. Patrick's Day lesson again in the future.
