When you want to replace the wooden handles you don’t poke the wood out. You put the whole axe head or whatever tool you’re doing in a fire and burn it out. A lot less work. You should be able to purchase hickory handles with metal wedges to put in them, sharpen them up and have a nice tool. Back in the day most homes would have had an axe around for something, even if it was just for a chicken dinner.

I think I’ve seen on another channel that instead of struggling to get a broken wooden handle out of a tool. They put the tool in a fire to burn it out.

All of those big staples are from logging enterprises. They would hammer the staple part way into the log and then run a rope or chain through it to keep a bunch of logs together. Keep up the good work, you guys are entertaining.

It's amazing how clean and calm the water looks and yet there is SO much stuff below!! Noticed how there weren't all the muscles, bugs, and Frankies in this water. Very cool!!🥰🥰🥰

Cool stuff! That roller coaster chain, is the kind of chain that those “caltrops” work on. They are tensioners or something that keeps the chain from catching the on the bottom. Notice on some of them one or two “spikes” are longer than the others. The falcon claw might be a piece that keeps a chain from moving backwards. As the chain moves forward it moves the claw out of the way and as gets on a hole it falls into it.

When you find old logging stuff it makes me think the stuff either came off a raft that was guiding logs floating down river, or had tied a bunch of logs together.
