An outstanding solo recording of Hoagy Carmichael's most famous composition. This is just such a wonderful listen! CARROLL GIBBONS Piano solo, London, 21st July, 1942

Absolutely beautiful playing and arrangement. ... The 1930's were a high water mark for extraordinary pianism in popular music.

His piano solos are so delightfully evocative. When Day is Done is lovely too.

This transcription of 'Stardust' follows the same pattern as the Billy Mayerl transcription with the repeat melody played in syncopation. Yet different enough to warrant owning copies of both. They were both masters of their craft with Mr Gibbons having that slight edge over Billy when it came to adding vocals. Whilst Billy Mayerl was technically brilliant, Carroll Gibbons was undeniably a class act. In my opininion, Charlie Kunz could not hold a candle to either of them.
