Starfield - What Happened To Earth?

Even before the release of Starfield, mysteries around its universe are roaring to the surface.
Earth seems to be void of life, with no knowledge of what has caused the mass migration to neighbouring planets and systems.
Let's crawl through all of the information available to us so far and try and gather what exactly has happened to the planet that us humans used to call home.

The theory that Fallout and Starfield take place in the same universe cannot work. Starfield is based on a realistic vision of the future. Fallout is based on the romantic vision of the future from the 50's.

With games like No Man's Sky and Starfield, the first thing I do after acquiring a ship is search the galactic map to find the location of one planet...Earth. Build a base on Earth and work my around the verse from there.

It's even more fun if the lore lists Earth as a deadzone or something. Enemies (lorewise) might not consider looking at the homeworld we fled from, so it'd be a perfect hiding spot.

Yeah on NMS i’ve been looking for a planet like Earth with my fleet, so in my headcanon, i’m a human who is looking for a new home similar to where his kind came from so he could settle it with his crew, or it could be the same Earth but so many years have passed, other planets in the solar system have changed, even the sun so the Sol System could have become a binary star system in the distant future.

In games like these the Earth is often only a devastated wasteland or it has been forgotten or it is off-limits for some reason. It saves the game developers at least a decade in development time and a nine-digit sum in money that they would need to invest in order to model the Earth more or less realistically.

Another simple explanation for the Nobody left Earth theory is that visitors who go to explore Earth mysteriously vanish, so the planet is marked off limits and highly recommend people to stay away from the planet. Or the Earth could have unbelievably extreme conditions either because of weather, fauna, both, or something else. So our character could’ve been someone who actually traveled to Earth, but then was found, or found some other people nearby Earth, and they express their surprise because they never expected anyone to travel to Earth, and be found alive.

I have no idea how planet exploration will actually go but if you can actually travel the planet of Earth, my ultimate goal is to travel to Montana America and build a settlement near Yellowstone National Park in honor of my hometown.

Spoiler: Earth is a desert planet, just white sand, continents are visible from space but there is no water looks like frozen but it's just sand like a Superflare or something hit it. It's magnetic field is gone also and has thin CO2 atmosphere.

Where are the destroyed building around the arch if it is St. Louis? There should be a whole city. One arch wouldn’t survive if nothing in the city could.
