A shame the ancients forced their hands on them which is a catastrophic mistake

The Asurans were completely nerfed... No beam weapons, no drones on ships or from the surface. They should have been superior by all means, they have most if not all of the Lantean/Ancients tech and yet they were bested by some hives, Earth and traveler ships...

I think the replicators annihilating human worlds so relentlessly made the wraith see that the asurans needed to be taken out by any means. When your food supply is being threatened, there’s very little room for stupidity or arrogance.

hataks were so pointless against the ori though they might as well have never turned up. The only ships that survived straight up combat was 1 304 that was allowed to live and maybe the asgard ship. It wasnt untill asgard beams entered the picture that a milky way vessel could actually damage an ori ship. At least in this battle only the travellers had any real likelihood of being "useless" and they werent a major part of the force. it was mostly wraith and milky way humans doing the heavy lifting

@@kineticdeath I still found that Asgard ship to be a plot hole we know what their weapons can do I find it strange in that massive furball the Asgard couldn’t destroy one Ori ship while they were firing on others, then to straight up disappear it had to be destroyed which you think would have been used as a big oh shit factor to be mentioned hey you know those guys who always have our backs and only had actual problems with the replicators yeah their ship which is unmatched in multiple galaxies just got curbstomped by an enemy that took zero damage.

@@trekkieraccoon3343 Yes, that was my point. There were many more starships in the Milky Way and yet the fleet they gathered to face the Ori was smaller than this one in Pegasus.

@@DomWeasel I always took that as Jaffa preferring to argue among themselves over the proper course of action rather than listening to the Tau'ri and doing what they say is right. Ironically I think it was easier to convince the Wraith - they knew the Replicators will either destroy them directly or starve them, so they took the opportunity to strike against them.

I think the replicator ships actually weren't using drones for the most part, they seem to be using older directed energy weapons.

It's a mix but those were definitely drones, you can see them turn mid flight, same also with the salvo that is fired at the hive ship in the background right as the replicator ship is hit @@Turk3YbAstEr

Yeah, Replicator drones seemed to do much less damage than Lantean ones. Just look at the clip of a Replicator ship destroying the Atlantis copy the "rebel" Replicators created - it looks like these drones just hit their targets and detonate without the Lantean drones capability to tunnel through their targets. Not to mention we usually saw Ancient drones launched en masse, and Asurans seem to fire them one by one instead of in large groups.

I think one of the show's writer/producer said something along of "the Replicators tech was inferior to the OG Lantean one, because they were made early during the war, so it was outdated", or something along those lines.

If you think about it, while they had emulated their creators as much as possible and were even capable of building ZPM's, their creativity and innovation was non-existent. They weren't capable of re-writing their own code or inventing new technology beyond just duplicating what the original Ancients had at the time. They had basically remained the same for over 10,000 years with no evolutionary progress, though clearly that had multiplied. They also did not have the Ancient gene, not that they probably needed it, but the way they would interface with their systems was likely far inferior than the drone chairs. Remember they were made to fight the Wraith but were still deemed a failure, maybe they just weren't any more effective than the Ancients themselves. It seems unlike their Milky Way galaxy counterparts, these Replicators were much more limited in their thinking and strategy, possibly by design to ensure they didn't get out of hand. They pretty much stayed on their own planet for thousands of years with no desire to spread out until McKay messed with their base command codes.

The Wraith Hives were tanking hits, their Darts and the Travelers were running interference while the two 304s were doing the heavy work with their Asgard shields and reverse-engineered Ori beam weapons (that's what the Asgard plasma beam _has_ to be).

Well, up until Daedalus Variations. Only had the beam weapon on that ship for a couple of shots before they had to use the railguns.

They did damage because replicators hadn't put their shields up yet. You can see everything getting through for the initial volley of fire after exiting hyperspace.

As I understand it the rain gun ammunition had been enhanced by Naquadah, like depleted Uranium, providing a much more powerful oomph on impact.

More like "the only time" railguns did damage to ships. ^.^

Hardly...We just begun... The new navy ships have railguns. They can go through the hull of 12 ships... Tungusten dart... The put separate reactors just to power the railguns.

Not to mention the replicator cells were supposed to be a small extremely dense blob. The blob was bigger than their entire city.

@@yzdatabase4175 They're not mutually exclusive. But if you gathered all the humans on Earth together, they would cover an area of 30 square miles. The blob made from potentially the same number or more of humanoid replicators is obviously not as large as that so it's clearly a dense mass.

Remember, they inherited the arrogance of their Creators. So having advance 'everything', they are complacent. Speaking of which, this begged a question on me: WHY DIDN'T THEIR ATLANTIS JOIN THE FIGHT!? It would have literally leveled the anti-Asuran fleet.

Any crews you beam over onto the abandoned Replicator ships are going to find it a little hard to breathe, given the hundred hull breaches in each ship where the Replicators were forcibly yanked through. Not to mention what sort of damage that may have done to the ships' systems. Would kinda suck to be one of those salvage teams who go over, find out the hyperdrive power conduits were severed, and you had no time to reroute before the planet exploded.

@@BogeyTheBear Wraith managed to steal ZPMs. An entire collection.

Infuriated me for YEARS at this point. Pack the Deadalus to literal capacity with people to go in and grab ZPMs, and then beam over to least damaged ships and repair them into hyperspace.

They could also have at the very least stolen the schematics for how to make new ZPMs. But then that would just make them too OP, so nope.

You assume those ships had no safety measures in case of human infiltration.

Safety measures? I doubt those ships have any _air_ in them. The Replicators didn't leave those ships through a hatch or airlock, you know. They went through the walls.

They took out the hyperdrives to stop any from escaping, can't remember if the blowing up the planet was part of the plan though
