I like how Stargate doesn't just treat inertial dampeners like some off hand remark, and actually uses them in the plot.

FORD It's strange not pulling any Gs. SHEPPARD Yeah. I kind of miss it. Although at this rate of acceleration we'd be dead by now. FORD Yeah? SHEPPARD Oh, yeah. Without inertial dampening, we'd be hit by so many Gs, our eyes would pop, the skin would pull away from our faces, our brains would squish up to the back of our skulls, and our internal organs would be crushed into these chairs. What about that sandwich?"

When in doubt, vent the rest of the ship. Especially when you don't need your enemy to operate it.

Step one of reclaiming your spaceship when the only people on board are you and the bad guys is seal your compartment and vent the atmosphere. Of course, depending on when she disabled the shielding that might have ended poorly... But still, vacuum is the great equalizer.

Ancient technology is really only as smart as the plot demands. Normally their computers can detect all kind of dangers, but now it can't even detect radiation on the bridge?

Remember that the ship wasn't fully functional thanks to damage/disuse; plus, it wasn't initialized by anyone with Alteran genes.

all he needs to do is to set up self-destruct and full air vent for 5 minutes with periodic countdown refresh via mind-link with added security through plotting a course zig-zag through every single star nearby the intended road with alterations for close bypass done last moment on the way. Bonus points for raising a firewall to block any kind of non-mind-link connections into the system, including the most trivial ones. Kill me and one way or the other, we all die and the ship is lost for everyone forever, thanks for playing. If the ship allows it, then once she stands down with radiation, he can just decrease the oxygen levels on the whole ship except the bridge to some 10% for a few minutes, rendering everyone unconscious, grab a face mask and pick them one by one - if that can't be done, the less elegant way is to engage inertial dampening on bridge only and then just beat everyone down with set of sharp accelerations and decelerations. (Or just tell everyone that either they come to you and surrender or you just actually vent all the atmosphere outside of bridge out at once - or make a 100g maneuverer without inertial dampening outside the bridge, or Andromeda style increase a gravity on the whole ship outside the bridge to some comfy 10g. Or even about... 7-8g on the whole ship should do the job - Shepperd is trained fighter pilot, so he should be able to remain conscious under that pressure - the others are most likely not so it shuts them down pretty nasty fast.) Like seriously, if the ship can be fully operated through a mind link and you allow the one and only person on the ship capable the mind-link to access it, and if that person is willing to harm you or take you with xem, you are an idiot and it's game over for you (unless you are willing to take xem down with you, in which case you MIGHT get a chance to play it for a lose-lose draw, without any guarantees to achieve it unless you prepare it in advance.) Shepperd was all knowledgeable, competent and trained to know this from the very start and surely willing to go for it. Or if some mumbo-jumbo preventing him from any of this specific steps, find some fully efficient substitutions. This was simply a plot hole.

@@BogeyTheBear Every other civilization does the same thing with time though, you do in fact need to understand that unit of measurement to know how long "2 days" is when the mysterious travelers are set to pay another visit... Our measurements of time are all based on earth's rotation and orbit around the sun so there's no way civilizations from other galaxies are going to understand things like "tomorrow" or "We'll come back in a week" or "a few minutes", not when they don't even know about earth or probably even our entire galaxies existence...
