I love this game, and I agree with you about the "dictator" problem. The upside to that problem though is that it makes for a great solitaire game. Oh, and I have a small correction to make. Clearly the back side of each character card depicts the male avatar, and the front side has the female. :)

Watching this 6 years later and I can't help but notice all those BSG expansions on the shelf ...

Thanks for this! This is one of my favourite games, plays very well solo too. I think you are spot on - once you clear the hurdle of learning it, it's a pretty awesome experience.

Thanks for the review. On point as always. Bought this game in February 2014 and love it. Played it solo a few times to get the rules down, and even can get the wife to play it. Probably have about 20 plays under the belt with anywhere from 1-4 players. Very thematic with mechanics that make sense. Fun game but it does beat you up pretty good.

Three games on the desert island (provided there are enough people to play them!): Ghost Stories, Terra Mystica, and maybe Flash Duel for some light fun.

Heh... you mentioned you can put the wood and food in the production phase right into the available resources area, but show it being put in the future resources area. Oopsie.

As already mentioned, all co-ops suffer from the dictator syndrome. In our group, though, we let each person play to the strength of his or her character. There's also the fact that there are so many good options to take each turn. When the game starts we all just spread out and start rolling dice. That being said, we've played twice and lost horribly on just the first scenario. I foresee this game getting a lot of plays in my group for years to come; I think we'll stick around in the first scenario for now, and every other scenario will be like a new game. It's almost like different levels of a video game. You play until you beat one, and then you move on to the next.

Sorry , but I already got Castaways (Naufragos)... ;-) Same and different from Robinson Crusoe at the same time... Once you figured out how to decode the rulebook, it's really fun to play... An elaborated "Book-that-you-are-the-hero" feel... 3 games on a Desert Island (since solo or with peoples weren't specified, I choosed games that can be played solo or not): - A LCG... Lord of the Ring... - Arkham or Eldrich Horror... Since we'll have time aplenty ;-) - Wrath of Ashardalon...

great game with great community support on BGG. unfortunately the rule book is a mess! Thankfully, there's some great player aids on BGG that help overcome the lacking rulebook.
