Starmer on UK nations tour to 'reset' relations with devolved governments

10 күн бұрынA government in a hurry. Today Sir Keir Starmer began a tour of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales - underlining his intention to 'reset' relations with the devolved governments.
His Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper has announced a fast-track recruitment process for the boss of a new UK Border Security Command.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy was off to Berlin, Warsaw and Stockholm. And John Healy, the new Defence Secretary is already in Ukraine.

There is a similar obvious difference between Joe Biden and Donald Trump as well. Any contrast is stark when the bar is set as low as it has been lately.

Ecotricity Ltd, which has given almost £3.4m to Labour since Keir Starmer became leader in 2020, claims to be “Britain’s greenest energy supplier”. 99% of the gas it supplies comes from fossil fuels. The company claims this gas is “carbon-neutralised” because it invests in “carbon reduction programmes to cancel out the carbon burned”. Ecotricity has no active carbon credits - despite listing four environmental projects on its website it claims to support. Even if the company held active carbon credits, its claims that these “neutralise” its fossil fuel gas would still be misleading. Ironically, Ecotricity not only boasts about its own climate credentials, but also actively warns customers about “greenwashing” by rival energy suppliers.

They say they will create 650,000 new jobs in the energy sector. Take a look at how many jobs there are at present and you will soon see that the new jobs will be funded by the tax payer. It will be back to the old days of starting at 08.00 down the cafe until 09.30 a couple of calls and home by 13,00 with two hours overtime a day to keep everyone happy.
