You know why people nitpick it? It’s not a good show over all, and it’s hard to place why. So all the complaints turn into what sounds like nitpicking. Is the acting and writing bad in the movies? 100%, but it feels good, so those things get overlooked. When it’s bad people nitpick it. Claiming that people are just nitpicking it, doesn’t invalidate what they say.

@boromir2099 I never said it invalidates anything. I said I'm personally tired of it. And it is nitpicking when the first major argument of the series were lightsabers too thick, and fire in space bad.

This. This is how human beings get dissapointed in every aspect of life itself. Everything is measured against an expectation. I think it's amplified when you are a "fan" of something, somethiing that brings you great joy. I completely understand why part of the fandom is dissapointed with Disney Star Wars. I'm not, but I think I can understand it. But this is the nature of things. Nothing anybody can do about anythinig in life except be the change you want to see. Become a storyteller, become na artist, create your own worlds with your own mind. This is the ONLY way to guarantee that thing you like (the thing you actually created) is going to meet your expectations.
@jsavage6355

@@ichigen511 I get the disappointment of expectations. The "projection" of Luke that we got in TLJ was the Luke that I had in my head from the moment that we learned about there being new films. I just wasn't so subscribed to it that it ruined the films for me.

@@jsavage6355 I thought The Force Awakens set the proper expectations for a Star Wars trope. The fallen master. Yoda. Obi-Wan. Then Luke. The Force Awakens said Luke disappeared. Han Solo said Luke disappeared because he failed ot properly train Ben. I am and will always be flabergasted as to what the fandom was expecting us to find when Luke appeared. A super hero powered Jedi bad-ass? Based on what the previous movie setup? Do people even know how stories work? Do people know that Star Wars is the story of coming of age, it's selfish v selfless, it's falure and redemption. It's never been anything else than that. Never. The Last Jedi was par for the course. If anybody was expecting something else from Luke they simply have never (and probably never will) understand what Star Wars is.

I think with how they've treated Qimir in regard to screen time, build up, and atmosphere. I just don't quite get Vernestra being the Sith Master. I get her having secrets, they've telegraphed that, but the Sith are overflowing with hatred and seething, the universes' most evil dark side users. Sledge hammer to crack a nut? A Jedi tried to control a situation then it got out of her control seems way more normal to me.

Whips don’t really leave curved scars IRL. They leave straight or mostly straight scars, because you don’t get hit by the side, you get hit by the end. Not saying a lightwhip isn’t different, just saying that whips don’t really do that just because they’re curved. That said, lightening does leave forking and non-straight scars when people are struck. Granted often more wild that Qimir’s but just saying.

Could be wrong here, but I think the Light Whip shot was a deliberate misdirect. Qimir could have been lying about being a Jedi. Maybe he instead really was trained by a Sith (which would explain his extensive knowledge of Jedi practices *but also his quotations of the Sith code*), and later he was discarded by his master, left for dead, or assumed dead, but survived.

I still don't think that Qimir was a Jedi. Osha asked him who he is and he said that he was a Jedi a long time ago. That's basically what the Sith were. So I think that he's saying in a typical Qimir roundabout way that he's a Sith.

I hope personally that the show is delayed, just because I hope the kid actors aren't traumatized forever. The two lines I find curious in this episode are Vernestra saying they were all killed by a lightsaber, which clearly Yord wasn’t. The other is Qimir using the exact phrase “power of two” to describe what he wants, suggesting a definite connection to the witches, but possibly also that what he wants is something unique to Osha / Mae, not necessarily referring just to the rule of two.

A couple of things. 1) Whips don't leave curvy marks when struck. 2) I don't read the books, but if she is one of the EVILs, I will 100% be reading the books. 3) We enjoyed being spoiled that Darth Vader was Anakin and were glued to Clone Wars. I like this strategy if they are cooking this way. 4) I think if Vernestra IS a sith lord, possibly a apprentice of Tenabres, her being in the Jedi would be HUGE leading up to what we see in Phantom Menace and beyond. What better way to change the way of the Jedi and influence than from within. These are just my thoughts. Love the video, and content you guys put out and thank you for being impartial and letting Disney cook in this series and not bashing it for clicks!

Dear Molly and Alex, Albert here (formerly 'The Star Wars Podcast' on the @TopicArchives). I just want to say how grateful I am for who you both are, for the positive and thoughtful energy you put out into existence, and for the outlet and community you've created with your show to give form to all of it. You alongside Friends of the Force are bastions standing against what often feels like a constantly rising tide of cynicism, jadedness in this world (I'm a millennial that remembers a time before the dark times, before the Algorithm/Social Media), and too often openly hostile rage-wagoning. I just wanted to say, please continue what you're doing. The 'silent majority, vocal minority' dynamic is in full swing in this (IMO) exceedingly entitled, energetically scarce and nihilistic world, so while you sometimes may not see it, your comment sections will eventually be fully reflective of the vibrant and grateful community you have out there. Its only a matter of time. The light will prevail, I know it. At least you give me hope that it will :) Please keep going, in a way I realised I was not/am no longer able to. Seeing you both do what you do, brings more than a measure of solace that the positivity-and-inclusiveness movement in the online Star Wars community I left behind is alive and well. Again, thank you both so much -- your outlook and civility go further towards making the planet and species better than you can know. Thank you for keeping the flame of treating each other with more decency (as it was in the 90s) alive and well :) Kindest regards from Australia, Albert

I feel the 2+2=4/whip scars plus light whip points to Vernestra, is an intentional misdirection. Given the stranger said he was "thrown away" another possibility is that he was discarded via being sold into slavery and the whip like scars are from Zygerrian slavers.

I think Vernestra is the "kill the dream" moment that Qimir talked about. She was his master and she has been covering up her mistakes from the council and she's already on the verge of losing the dream. Imagine being 116 and having so much baggage, and constantly sweeping them under the rug. Just from the way she looks, she looks constantly tired, and exhausted with little emotion in her voice, and the only time you hear her voice go any higher than a low is when she says to the other Jedi who suggested that Sol might of been the culprit that it was a serious accusation, almost like a subtle light bulb went on in her head. She's perfectly willing to let Sol go under the bus if its to her benefit. I don't think she's a Sith, I think she's made huge mistakes and she's hiding them cause of the shame and the implications they could bring on her.

I like the idea of Vernestra having been constantly covered up everything and being the cause of the downfall she’s trying to stop. And it all makes the most sense if she is the Jedi who whipped the stranger. In the books, we see her cover for a Padawan, who has a moment of darkness.. Wild thought maybe as a way seeker she trained a Padawan unofficially and that is the a stranger

A lot of people are upset and understandably so. Same with me since it was because of Vern I got into HR in the first place. However some have pointed out and even cited passages in all her books that the red flags of her being cagey on certain things, keeping things to herself, etc were always there from the start. Guess we gotta wait until Trials of the Jedi, the final adult novel of Phase 3, to see what else could happen for her to become the politically shackled Jolly Green Jedi we see in the Acolyte.

I think there are two options: Vernestra gave him the scar but he's lying about the context. Or Vernestra wasn't involved at all, and the writers set this up so we'd be able to easily guess 2 twists in a row so that now when the twist ISN'T the thing they foreshadowed it's an actual surprise. Which might explain why the first two twists were so easily guessable. Setting us up for the fall so to speak.

I don’t think they would spoil a dark side turn for Vernestra in the show that we would later see in one of the last THR books. Project Luminous/THR was created to be the starting point for stories in a new era

Many or even most of the viewers did not read any of those books, therefore they would not be offended if Vernestra was a Sith Lord in disguise like Palpatine was.

Regarding Vernestra, also note that Charles Soule was a creative consultant or something like that for the show, so I don't expect them to do something so completely out of left field for her character compared to the books

Both Venestra and Sol will have to face their former Padewons. One lost to Dark Forces, and the other betrayed by years of lies.

I don’t know what Baylan will find at his destination but we do have info from the show about what is is seeking… Baylan Skoll: …What I seek is the BEGINNING, so I may finally bring this cycle to an END. Shin Hati: And that beginning is here? Baylan Skoll: If the old stories are true. In Overlords, upon arrival in Mortis & encountering the Daughter: Obi-Wan Kenobi: And what exactly are you? The Daughter: We are the ones who guard the power. We are the MIDDLE, beginning, and the end. Typically we would expect that description to be the BEGINNING, middle, & end. The Daughter leads them along a cliff & Obi & Ahsoka are separated as it is Anakin who has been summoned. The Daughter takes Anakin to the Father’s citadel where they converse and later Anakin meets the Son in his dreams. So he meets the Daughter, the Father, & then the Son. Over the course of the arc the Daughter dies, the Father dies, & then the Son. In Rebels - A World B/ween Worlds, the depiction of the Ones @ the Lothal temple are from left to right; the Daughter, the Father, & the Son. Among the voices Ezra can hear in tWBWs is the Daughter’s line “We are the MIDDLE, beginning, & the end.” The Argonath One’s are again depicted from left to right; the Daughter, the Father, & the Son. Thus, The Daughter = the Middle The Father = the Beginning The Son = the End. Only having the OT as a kid thru early adulthood to refer to, I never had an issue w/ the redemption of Anakin & his appearance as a force ghost. Only Luke could see him, thus he was only ever redeemed in Luke’s eyes & it had as much or more to do w/ the implications of the embodiment of a the great evil of the galaxy who killed his mentor being his father & if that meant that evil was a part of him too. Redeeming Anakin is a refutation that Luke is not condemned to repeat the sins of the father/the past, it is not his destiny. But of course the Prequels brought all sorts of lore implications that muddied the waters & a common question then becomes if all the other force ghosts needed training to manifest, how can Anakin do so w/ none ? It seems entirely possible that Baylan upon arrival @ the Father’s citadel, he finds the current resident/“beginning” to be Anakin. Ahsoka is unquestionably the embodiment of the Daughter. So then Mr. Skoll seems destined to catch his proverbial Sun by becoming the Son & take actions that threaten to bring about his proverbial Ragnorok as the embodiment of the “End”. 🤷‍♂️ Before the series aired @ celebration they announced 3 films, a Dawn of the Jedi, Filoni’s, & Rey’s New Jedi order. After the Ahsoka finale it seemed possible that they were working towards a non-trilogy trilogy of sorts w/ Baylan unleashing a new darkness on the GFFA that had it’s roots in the Dawn of the Jedi & which Rey’s order will have to contend w/. I’m less convinced now as so much of what has happened makes it seem like they’re grasping at straws more than not but who knows, we’ll see. 🤷‍♂️

Why can’t we suspect that Qimir could be older than Vernestra? It seems that he may be a lot older than he appears whether it’s through Sith magic or maybe the magical pool he swims in.

Whenever Vernestra uses the whip against an adversary, she doesn't just scar them, she does something (cuts off a hand in Tales of Light and Life). So why use her whip to just scar Qimir???

If the Mortis Mother and Father are opposites, than she would either; -try to create imbalance between her children and the side of the force. - or she would want to them to meet in the middle (a bit like we saw with The Bendu). If Baylan would meet anyone in the temple or on Mortis, it should be Anakin. RotJ and the first season of Ahsoka already showed death isn’t the end for the Chosen One.

I do hope they keep Abeloth out of it. I'm fine with it if it turns out there is a Mortis Mother, but Abeloth is just such a stupid concept. The themes of cosmic horror and Star Wars fundamentally do not mix, so cosmic horror monsters have no real place in it. Shoehorning them in just results in yet another embodiment of the Dark side. Which makes it redundant because thats what the Son already does.

And how many Star Wars fans, even serious ones, have even read any of the 9 now non-canon Fate of the Jedi novels? To bring in Abeloth would be pandering to a very small sliver of the fanbase.

Regarding a Jedi taking the L to protect the reputation of the Order - that might be what Vernestra ends up doing. Precedent in the Legends (NJO) when Corran Horn steps aside for a time during war with Yuuzhan Vong.
