let me just say this episode could have ended super easily by Boba summoning his Slave 1 ship from his gauntlet, and once it arrives, he hops in and just destroys all forces opposing him. He could have literally won in a couple minutes. Not sure why he didn’t utilize his ship. We’ve seen what ship blasters can do the shields like in the phantom menace when Anakin blasted droidekas in his royal n-1 naboo starship.
Anyways,
leaving the last episode with grogu making that massive decision between the chainmail armor and yoda’s lightsaber, we start off the season finale of book of boba fett with boba, fennec, mando and the modders at the aftermath of the blown up lounge of garsa fwhip. Mando tells Boba that Cobb is coming, Boba wants to head back to his palace as he has a better vantage point there from the roofs and lookouts. The modder tells him to stay in Mos Espa and protect the people, so he does. I felt it was a little weird he’s listening to this modder. I’m not a fan of boba constantly listening to others, and not just doing what he wants.
Cad Bane walks to the head quarters of the Pyke leader where the mayor of mos espa is also there, along with the leaders of the territories of the city.
We see the mayor seem a little firm with not wanting his town to be fully run by the pykes and tells them not to be so blaster happy blowing things up.
Cad assures the pyke leader he’ll get Boba out, which we see he goes to him later to have a conversation.
Luke’s X-wing lands down and I thought luke would be in it, escorting grogu to tatooine, but he’s not there. He sent R2 to taxi him there. I felt this was a little careless on Luke’s part. It feels like Luke didn’t care much, so he just sent Grogu off without his protection. That’s an odd move. It would have been cooler if Luke went with him, and showed up during the battle, taking out the droids until he gets slammed into the wall by a evil force user, perhaps a dark jedi much like jorus c’baoth or maybe darth talon who appears with Crimson Dawn. I feel this episode needed more than just the man vs man pykes. It had a ton of cool flashy scenes, but no exposition beyond Cad who dies in a second, and the pykes who eventually get taken out. The Rancor was epic beyond measure, but again, it’s flash, it needed more muscle than the pykes.
Final fight:
As Cad walks up to Boba to blast him, He tells Boba this is his final lesson. So he says this because Cad Bane mentored Boba, and he did this because Jango mentored him. So in a way, he kind of helped look after and raise Boba a little bit when he was a boy. As he takes boba’s helmet off, he stands up to end him when he gets hit off his feet with Boba’s gaffi stick from the Tusken Raiders. Showing that he’s completely cut himself off from the ties of his father and ways of his past as a bounty hunter, and now as Boba Fett, incorporating the ways of the Tuskens into what he knows. It’s a poetic ending, however it’s just too fast for Cad. I feel he came in the show just to die. There’s so much more he could have been part of from the start which would have made their duel more climactic as well.
Cad gets pierced through the chest stomach and dies in a deflating exhale. As he is left for dead on the sands of Tatooine, we hear a beeping. I think this beeping is a signal sent to someone that he’s dead. Which brings in the bigger guns, like Crimson Dawn, or, it calls for his ship and droid to come and retrieve him so he can be put in bacta or taken to be healed. Cad has obviously had some upgrades and I feel his metal plate on his head shows he can’t die very easily, even when shot to the dome. So I don’t think he’s really dead, at least I hope.
The Rancor has a king kong moment, tries to eat Mando but can’t because of the Beskar, and Grogu walks up to it to use beast control much like Anakin did on the Reek in the geonosis arena in star wars episode 2 attack of the clones, which funny enough is where boba fett’s father, Jango Fett, dies at the hands of Mace Windu. We saw a flashback of that scene at the very beginning of the season where little Boba holds Jangos helmet.
Boba walks through his town and the people respect him.
He throws Black Krrsantan a melon and the final line is a joke that the wookie gets a melon and they don’t.
We see Din and Grogu flying through space, reunited once again. Grogu is sitting in R2’s spot like in the phantom menace when Anakin blew up the trade federation station. They blast into hyperspace and that’s the end of the season. The music now says Fett, Boba Fett, which it never did before.
Thanks for being part of the watch party and the show!

I disagree, I think Luke showing up during the fight would have ruined everything and am personally glad he didn't help. It wouldn't make any sense... there's a time and place for more Luke, but during a criminal war that doesn't concern him is NOT the time and place for him. (especially with Boba there, although I wish we got a tense interaction between the two) Everything else I agree with though.

You know what would've been nice? Since the show was so fond of flashbacks, why not have a flashback to the first duel between Cad and Boba (maybe even staring Daniel Logan as Young Boba) to build some tension to their final duel. Especially since I don't think we'll ever see that scene animated anytime soon.

I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one sad about the two Gamorrean’s deaths. They were Boba’s first bodyguards besides Fennec and stayed loyal to both of their masters and to Boba til death. They should’ve lived to see the outcome. Tatooine is finally at peace after so many years and they deserved a peaceful rest of their career as guards. I understand it was necessary for someone on Boba’s side to die otherwise it would be unrealistic, but it’s still really sad to see.

I didn’t expect Luke to interfere and actively fight, but I did think he’d escort Grogu back to Mando to make sure he got there safely. It would’ve been perfectly reasonable for Luke to just drop him off and leave. Luke has no stake or interest in fighting in a gang war, and it’s not his problem. Pykes Vs Boba isn’t his battle, but Grogu’s safe return is his responsibility.

That's a very distinct possibility. Just from a story telling perspective, bringing in Luke would've been the wrong move. It would have been too much work, too flashy and basically out left field. He would've been waaaaay too OP and also you'd have to somehow reconcile Boba and Luke to become allies, which you can't do effectively in a single episode. Then add on top a random force user/sith out of nowhere and your story now makes little to no sense. What SWT is asking for here is an avengers style finale, and that just doesn't work in Star Wars. That being said, seeing Luke would've hella dope, the Cad Bane fight should've been a bit longer, and Boba could definitely have used his ship.

I agree in not having Luke there, but I think they wrote themselves into a corner trying to get Grogu back with Mando and keep Luke out of the picture. So they ended up with the weird scenario where Luke gives him this choice then doesn't bother to bring Grogu back himself.

So at the end Boba told Fennec “maybe we aren’t cut out for this” so my theory is the end credits scene showed Cobb alive. Boba is gonna leave the city behind for Cobb to run. And we will get a season 2 of Boba and Fennec exploring the galaxy. Also to add to the Cobb theory. Earlier in the battle they showed that Cobb’s ppl and the Modders didn’t get along. But they worked together. And now Cobb is going to be a Modder himself. So he will be one with both sides and bring them together. U heard it here first 😁👍

I was going to comment something like this myself. I think SWT was too imprisoned in his wishes for the show. I loved this episode. And I don't think the Grogu with Luke time line is done. Maybe Grogu has the ability to see in the future and knew he needed to be on tatooine to help Din. Luke will see that and further train him. But who knows. Overall I enjoyed this first season a lot. The criticism I've heard from this channel and others I don't agree with. It's by far better than the sequel trilogy. That's for sure.

I think it was a good move to not have Luke in this episode. Luke tends to “suck the air out of the room” so to speak. It would have been about him and the battle would have been over a lot quicker which was not the writers goal. Also, I think they wanted to save the jet packs for the finale.

his attachment to the people of Mos Espa, that he doesnt let them alone/down is more likely because of his memories of his father leaving him alone when he was young. Sets up a pretty easy season 3 though with them doing it now. Grogu arrives in Mando's care in this episode. It allows them to do the first half of Season 3 of Mandalorian to be 2 things: Grogu can't control his powers. Mando can't control the darksaber. Both of these things can be fixed by Luke. Going back to Luke is a synthesis of what really everyone would need. Mando needs training, Grogu needs training. Those two need one another. Luke needs students, unironically he is getting two. Luke also needs to lean into compassion and reminding himself that the reason he was able to succeed was the bonds he had with others. All of these get resolved by all of the characters having to make these choices. That being said, it is a shame that the best moments of Boba Fett just star the Mandalorian which says more about the direction of the show than anything else.

Obviously, the creators know the whole audience doesn't care about Cobb Vanth. There is a reason for them to revive him. Notice how Boba says that him and Fennec aren't suited for this in the end. Fennec then asks "if not us, then who?" and like 2 minutes after we are shown the Marshal being alive. I'm actually 100% positive that was made so that Boba could freely now leave Tatooine in Cobb's capable hands and go about his business helping Mando in Season 3 Slave I would've been destroyed by those droids in a minute. Notice how Boba himself, so little in comparison to a gunship, was almost shot the very moment he flew up Edit: I know this show isn't about Boba Fett we were expecting. It's about a more mature and wise version of him. His whole experience made him realize that all of the violence really is the last resort - just as Jango taught him. I believe, we will see Boba in the Bad Batch Season 2 where his ugly side - the audience's expectations-like one - will show us what he used to be and why he came to this

I guess I might be unpopular with the following, but personally, I've been really really happy with The Mandalorian and Boba Fett series so far. I'm actually glad that Luke has been a minor character, as have been the Jedi/Sith in general. I take these series as an expansion into that universe and tell the stories of other people (in the case of these two series, primarily the Mandalorians). So I'm glad that Luke didn't participate in the battle nor any antagonist sith/dark Jedi. Maybe a reason that Boba didn't use his ship and grabbed his rancor was because he thought the ship would likely cause more collateral damage where the rancor could fight more easily in the right streets...?

Personally, I think the Book of Boba Fett - while still being a separate show - still tells the Mandalorian story in general and the former feels more like a 'side story' than anything else, probably as preparation for the next season of the latter. Using the Slave 1 against the Pykes, like he did earlier in the show, would be way too easy, not to mention more destructive for Boba. Would you gain respect if you used something that could destroy an entire town, only to defeat a group of drug dealers? I highly doubt that. I actually didn't mind seeing Boba showing his more softer side for once. This indicates that Boba actually care about the people - unlike Jabba the Hutt - and may have realized that he doesn't need to do things guns blazing to get what he wants. All he ever wanted was to get respect, as well as being recognized as a human being rather than another clone of his father, Jango Fett. Star Wars has always been about character development; Boba Fett was popular, because he was not one of the main cast and only took on supporting roles. Now that he has become the main focus in his own show, people are suddenly complaining about how soft and talkative he has become. This is what people would call character development; Boba has his own voice and ideals and is still - like everybody else - his own individual. After all, developing our own personality is what makes us human to begin with...

Also it's not a Jedi/Sith focused show so it kind of made sense that there wasn't anymore than what was put in the show. As for Boba going soft, i dont know... they pretty much outlined in the show why he went "soft" with his life with the Tusken Raiders. You keep bringing this up so I'll just share my interpretation of this. Boba not using Slave 1 at any point in the battle made sense to me. His goal was to SAVE the people of Mos Espa and prevent as much destruction as possible. Using his ship could have ended the battle quickly yes, but at the cost of how many buildings being destroyed and how many lives being lost. The blaster canons on slave 1 are powerful and rapid firing. They could have taken out one of those droids yes, but also everything else around them. The onboard missiles are the same, could cause a lot of damage, but they would also blow up everything around them. That's not even getting into the fact that one of his seismic charges is powerful enough to take out an entire district of Mos Espa. So yeah, Slave 1 was Boba's nuclear option. While it could have ended the battle quickly, what would the cost have been and would the people of Mos Espa really have wanted him to stay around as a leader after he destroyed so much of his city with his ship in a battle that really had nothing to do with them?

They could have easily avoided the entire situation if they just waited at the palace like Boba had said. The power ranger that thought going to the palace would be “abandoning the city” was stupid. And Boba Fett is also dumb for basically listening to him! It caused the battle to occur in the city rather than at The palace where it is relatively out of the way from civilians. Fighting out in the open near the palace would have made the slave 1 extremely helpful. Or even bunkering down at the palace since they knew they were out numbered.

I personally have a great amount of confidence that they know what they're doing and know how to make everything work. Everything that happened has a purpose and for that reason I loved this series. People also seem to forget it's called "The BOOK of Boba Fett" meaning it's about his story in general and there needed to be the explanations used in the first 6 episodes to make the finale make sense. Which in a way does make it more of a Star Wars show than just a Boba Fett show and I'm fine with that. What bothers me about this finale more than anything is that it completely diminishes the emotional impact & implications of the Mando S2 finale. It hurts to believe that Luke really just sent Grogu away, and that we get this rushed, haphazard reunion between him and Mando. And as if that isn’t worse enough, this prevents Mando S3 from playing outside its safe formula. Rather than give these characters actual arcs and conflict, we just return back exactly where we started. You watch S2 finale of Mando, Grogu is gone. You watch S3 premiere of Mando, Grogu is already back. No stakes in this show, and now Grogu is wearing literal plot armour. What a mess of poor writing. 6/10 for the series.

I mean I don't exactly know what you expected. If the Mandalorian ended at S2, this would all make sense. But we knew S3 is on its way. We knew Grogu would be back for the simple fact that the whole shows premise is about Din and Grogu. Did we all really want to watch Din going on a goose chase again to get grogu in S3? I do feel as if it would have been better to wait for the return of Grogu for S3, that way we could have Luke there and it wouldnt be disrupting the flow of the finale of Boba. But thaat being said, the show would have had them back together within the first episode simply for the fact that the show is about them. Could they have spent time maybe having Din doing mando stuff like going to Mandalore and all that, sure. But thats not what the show is about.

Welcome to a Filoni show. It never starts how you’d think it would and always takes time to put the puzzle together. I think this is just another example of watching it all play out. I’m sure this is one piece of a large puzzle that we get to see come together.

3:12 something that needs to change in these Star Wars shows is not having so many different directors for every episode. It's starting to feel like it's affecting the overall story and there's just a bunch of people playing an eight-way tug of war because each of them want to put their name on something Star Wars

@@juliankueper4295 Thank you! I can see maybe having different directors for certain offshoots episodes but if you look at the Clone Wars most of the time it was the same director and the obscure episodes like droids or something would have a different director but Dave filoni would always be the supervising director or executive director or something like that. It was kind of like season 1 of the mandalorian where you had episodes that were all over the place cuz you had people like Tika watiti who although a talented director is a little odd and others trying to put their own spin on each episode It's like having multiple people responsible for designing one quarter of a vehicle and then just putting all of the pieces together without considering how it's going to fit

One thing i noticed is that when Cad Bane "dies" his arms left arm is stretched out at his side but in the next shot its on his stomach as if he manually pressed the button then passed out. We know Cad used his gauntlet buttons for all sorts of gadgets and weapons, and he always seemed like one of the smartest and well prepared bountyhunters in Star Wars so hopefully he had some sort of contingency plan incase he was ever badly wounded. I really hope this means hes coming back, cant just bring back a legend for 2 episodes with 5 min screentime just to die.

I can only hope that if/when season 2 comes out, it will focus on Boba's badass-ery more. “Missed opportunities” is how I summarize up this show, which is kind of hilarious because it also includes insane cameos like Luke Skywaker, Din Djarin, Ashoka, Grogu, Cad Bane and Black Krrsantan. Yet somehow they fumbled the show as a whole. Very apparent that this was all rushed. Kinda sad, especially for hardcore Boba Fett fans.

Mando should have visited the mechanic lady for supplies or maybe even ask her for droids to help in the fight. Luke shows up, drop Grogu and task Mando with helping Grogu remember his training as it's better than trying to train him himself. Then leave before any fighting start.

All in all I liked it I think one of the things we have to keep in mind is that he had mentioned he wanted power but not through fear but with respect. In order for him to achieve this goal he had to engage his rivals on the same level. That’s why I feel like he didn’t pull up in his ship. It’s kind of like in gangs of NY where they had to decide on the weaponry that they could utilize in battle. Though no formal discussion was ever had, him have the civilians contribute to the fight allowed everybody to play a part in their liberation. I believe some of the seems that admittedly felt forced at times were to introduce the major players in this battle and since it’s a book the emphasis is on their journey to Tattoine and ultimately their contribution. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and mob movie fan and this felt like it was almost making the distinction that the alignment in these clans is very similar to nation building which seems to be the case with boba and may lay the seeds for Grogu and Mando as they attempt to recapture Mandalore. Anyways love your videos keep up the great work!

I don't think Cad is dead. The beeping coming from his body was way to intentional. Remember, boba got teased from and audio cue so they could be teasing cad surviving the same way... This being said, I think that is cheap and they keep over playing the "OH look X person isn't dead, they are alive. Expectations subverted !!" Cad should've just escaped somehow to return in a season 2 where he's featured a lot more. I'm sure Disney realizes how popular live action Cad Bane is, they are probably gonna bring him back.

My reasoning why Boba didn't consider using the Slave I: It would have destroyed Mos Espa more than the Rancor would have, so they'd need to draw the Droids out of Mos Espa first. Rancor was a faster/less destructive option. (As weird as that might sound 😅)
