I also have to thank Cody for helping me turn my life around. About 5 months ago, my gf of 7 years and I broke up. I was depressed, 50 lbs over weight and hated life. Cody Trains got me to start walking outside in the mornings. Then those walks turned into half jogs, and now I'm running 4-5 days a week. I'm 15 lbs lighter, feel amazing, and just ran my first 10K this past weekend! Couldn't have done it without this channel. Thanks for everything, we ascend together, CHOO CHOO!

I'm only 22 but I was born with a couple heart defects and last September, my doctors said my condition worsened significantly and I'll need open heart surgery in the near future. This was difficult emotionally (for obvious reasons), but thankfully this channel started shortly after the diagnosis and I've watched every episode since. It's been a huge inspiration and in February I started running for the first time since I was a kid. In fact, I stopped driving completely and bike to work every day. In May, right after your Ironman, I was inspired to do my own challenge so I started training for a half marathon, doing 12+ miles weekly averaging 9 min pace. Shortly after, my doctors told me I could run but I must avoid raising my heart rate over 150 BPM. I had to stop training for the half marathon, but I've continued biking to work. This week, I just ran a total of 12 miles (three 4 mi runs) for the first time since my doctors limited my heart rate. I'm averaging 11:30 pace, to stay completely under 150 BPM (which is fucking frustrating,) but I have no plan to stop running or biking! Thanks cody

Hey, if you want, you can do long-distance running, which keeps your heart rate super low the whole time ❤ then you can still have a game plan and a big goal. You're doing awesome. Keep it up. And best of luck 👍

Hey man hope you’re doing well. I had an artificial valve put in at 24. The surgery sucks and recovery is weird as hell. Just remember that you’re climbing your own mountain and not some arbitrary one. I really wanted to do a marathon with 5 years of my surgery, but I’ve had some set backs and injuries and never got there. Heart stuff is weird because you can look and feel healthy, but you’ve got this wall that you genuinely can’t/ shouldn’t push through. take your time and remember being happy is the goal.

Hey man, good work! You probably already know this but if it helps reframe things for you, then depending on your age, sun 150HR is zone2 training which generally makes up most (80%) long distance running training (at least for normies) because it builds aerobic base. So if anything it's great to stay below there! I assume it would help with your condition too but I've no experience there, just hope you stay healthy and strong. Sounds like you're doing all the right stuff! Good on ya 💪🏻💪🏻

Hi Cody! My husband, our 13 month old daughter and our dog have been going on walks/hikes twice a day all summer and after seeing your Ironman training with all the swimming , you inspired me to even start swimming which I try to sneak in during my daughters naps. Nothing crazy but I try to be consistent. Being a first time mom has been really tough to find time for myself so finding time to swim has been so helpful and I’m so much happier on the days I am able to squeeze some laps in. Thank you for always encouraging your audience to be the best versions of themselves.

As a trans-person I've never really felt like my body belonged to me but these videos have inspired me to take control. This channel is the reason I started to believe I was capable of taking my body back and I will forever be grateful. 🚂🚂

As it seems like many others do, I owe you a sincere bout of gratitude, Cody. Around five months ago I experienced some major life changes (found out my long-term partner had been cheating for years- woohoo) and was forced to move back across the state with my parents at 23 with nothing but my dog and the belongings that could fit into my car. After stumbling on this channel I decided to give running a go as something to take my mind off things and promised to stay consistent with it. Since starting I now run around 4-5 days a week, have lost about 25 pounds, ran a 5k, have a 10k next week, and will be signing up for a half marathon once I wrap the 10k. Seeing you constantly putting in the work and getting better in each video has been so inspiring to me, and continues to push me even on the days I would have rather layed in bed and cried. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for inspiring me to invest in my health and change things for the better when I felt I hit rock bottom. We ascend together!! :)

I've been having severe mental health issues the last couple of years (started when I stopped running cross country). When you started your channel, I saw how excited and passionate you were with just exercising, emphasising the wonderful feeling that rushes over you after your run, bike or swim. I started running regularly ever since that first video almost one year ago now. I am now training for my first triathlon and I'm super fucking excited. Thanks for staying fired up, keep spreading that flame.

These videos have honestly become such big part of my week, they always come out right when I get back from the gym and I watch them while I'm having dinner. It's a ritual at this point and it's quite nice to be reminded that there are other people working towards their fitness goals just like you. I kinda miss the catch phrases to be honest though, "energy is everything" and "good morning, blessed day" were awesome

Hey Cody. I felt disappointed in myself this May. So I started walking every day for a couple of kilometers, didn't have any goals just wanted to clear my mind. Mid June I saw that you had completed an Ironman, that gave me the motivation to start running and now almost 3 months have passed. My first-ever half-marathon race will be this Sunday. Next year I want to run a full marathon, but still need more time to prepare for that. I never was a runner and this is all because of You. Thank you for being such an inspiration.

Dropping my huge thank you to Cody in the comments! I've never been an active person and always had trouble sticking to a workout schedule consistently. I often gave up a week or two in. I binged some of your training videos about a month ago and decided to finally commit to a goal and start running. I'm running a 5k on Saturday, something I've never done before! I always wrote fitness off in high school and college because I "wasn't athletic." But I've never felt better since I started this! I wake up most mornings to go running with my friend doing this with me, and I feel amazing. The biggest part of your videos that has helped me is knowing that something is better than nothing. It helps keep me motivated even on days I don't quite hit my time or running goal. I've been a fan of yours since 2016 and never would've seen myself doing something like this. My friend and I are working towards a half marathon next fall! Thank you for making these videos, it truly inspires me to keep going, even on days I want to quit. Thank you!!

I never thought I could run, ever. I tried it before very briefly and would just give up thinking it wasn’t for me. But watching Cody train for the Ironman and listening to the Insanely Chill episode with Danny, hearing him say that there’s no such thing as “not being able” to do something really resonated with me. So, I went out there, got myself some proper shoes and a training plan and I just recently completed a 5k and I’m making my way to a 10k, half marathon and a full marathon. I run practically every day and come back to watch these videos. I love this channel and the changes that it has inspired in my own life. Choo choo! 🚂

Cody you've helped motivate me to keep up my running (run/walking now lol) and strength training habits through my pregnancy! It makes me feel much better and I even completed a half marathon in my 12th week 😁 hoping to stay strong throughout this last trimester and then get back to marathon training after recovering postpartum! Choo choo 😊

Hey Cody! I remember watching the first video you posted on this channel. I had just started my weight loss/health journey and I cannot thank you enough for what these videos have done for me! I have lost 57 pounds over the last 6 months and have been inspired by your journey a long the way! I started swimming again because of your videos. I started out doing about 30 min in the pool 4 days a week. I am now doing an hour of non-stop laps 6 days a week. I started to do some jogging on the treadmill. The combination of these exercises and watching you train so hard for your iron man has inspired me to sign up for my first triathlon. I am going to be doing a small triathlon in Half Moon Bay! Thank you so much for all the encouragement, and for the many mid-biking screams. This channel has brought me so much joy and inspiration! Keep up the dope work :)

Hi Cody, I actually started watching your videos as of recently and they have inspired me a lot. I don’t do much running but i wanted to start because of you. I started to go on little walks and jogs with my dog and it has really improved both my health and mental health. (I even got my parents to join me in these little walks and I told them about you and your accomplishment of being an Ironman) Thank you for all you do!! WE ASCEND TOGETHER!

over the past weekend i took part in a charity trek and walked 13 miles. not only is it an achievement physically for me, but training for it was difficult because i really struggle with anxiety and getting outside on my own. before this past month i hadn’t been outside on my own for more than 10 minutes at a time. i definitely want to continue walking and push myself further because it’s had a positive influence on my mental health. i had oats the morning of the trek and thought of you, and when the hills got tough i thought of your mountain hiking advice about getting over the mental block of it feeling daunting. thanks for the motivation and entertainment!

I have my first half marathon on the calendar in November! While I did lift, I didn't run at all before watching your videos. I love seeing you push yourself to become better and prove to yourself that you can do hard things. Now, I've climbed by first 14er, consider 5 mile runs "easy" and have taken 2 minutes off my pace. I love that I'm constantly looking for a new challenge. Thank you for inspiring me!

Last September you inspired me to start running. I’ve never been a runner and i officially completed a 5K last November. I ended up documenting and I will watch my videos from time to time when I feel down on myself. I am now challenging myself to become faster and then moving to a 10K. Thank you for being an awesome inspiration to keep pushing myself! Cho-Cho!! 🚂

These videos do so much more than you think! I’m currently training for a half marathon taking place on October 8th and I’m super excited for it. Just 3 years ago I used to weigh 100 pounds more than I do now. By July of 2022 I had lost that weight, feeling great about my athletic abilities, and then I suffered a medial malleolus avulsion fracture and had to be off of my foot for close to 6 months. After the fracture and Physio, it took me 8 months to run a 5K and a month after that to run a 10K. Now, almost 14 months after the fracture, I am running 12K at a 5:00/km pace (the proof is in the Strava). Your videos helped me so much with staying motivated and getting me off my butt on those days where I find it very difficult to get moving. I’ll be choo choo-ing across the finish line of my first half marathon.

I seriously can’t tell you how much you’ve inspired me. A year and 1 month ago I decided to quit a 5 year vaping addiction and I have been clean from it ever since!! One thing that I have been terrified to do since quitting is going for runs because I’ve always been scared that my lungs couldn’t take it. But since watching your videos, I’ve been inspired to start running more and more each week. Little by little my lungs are thanking me for it! I literally feel like my lungs are healing by the day by getting outside and getting my heart rate up in my body moving. So basically I went from struggling to run for 30 seconds to going on 20 minute run/walks everyday and I’m working to run a 5k! Thanks for the vids that keep me going ❤️

Cody, you inspired me to start running and I am so grateful. I am half way on the “Couch to 5K” app. Not sure if that’s exclusive to Australia. Think that’s 3 miles haha. After this it’s on to 10K (6.2 miles). I keep reminding myself that we are naturally active beings! And!! It’s free to walk out your door and run! So good. Energy is everything. We ascend together.

watching these when they first started motivated me to sign up for a half marathon after a 3 year hiatus, which then led me to sign up for my first marathon (NYC in november) in support of sandy hook promise and their efforts to combat gun violence. i am so proud and so excited. thank you for the consistent motivation - as the mileage has gotten longer, these are a weekly dose of positivity and energy... which we know is absolutely everything! we ascend together, choo choo, etc. much appreciated.

I’m a Ph.D. Student and we can have super weird hours because we have no set schedule. During 2022 I started coming into work later and later and it was having a real negative effect on me and the people around me as I always felt out of it and would work late. The very first Cody Trains videos inspired me to set the New Year’s resolution to wake up at 6 am every weekday so I can get to work at a decent time and make it home early enough to do the other things I enjoy. One of which is now running as watching enough of these videos has got me to sign up for my very first ever half marathon. The coolest part is that I now get the opportunity to run for the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance, a charity that raises money for ovarian cancer research, which is what I do for my Ph.D., and for patient care. Thanks so much Cody truly changed the way I love my life!!

i finally faced my fear of running and running outside and ran a mile outside on saturday and sunday this past weekend. i go to the gym a lot but as someone who is not in good cardiovascular shape (and a little bit chunky) i was always afraid to run-but after reading these comments and watching cody show up for us and himself every week, i finally did it. and it felt amazing! yes i walked sometimes but i was able to push myself and get that great feeling of “i did it anyways”. thank you cody and fellow chodesters for helping me face my fear. ❤

This channel helped me get into a full workout routine at the beginning of this year. I even ran a 5K. I was at my peak in late May, but I had to get my wisdom teeth out and was advised against any rigorous physical activity for a few weeks. I fell out of the habit of working out. The last couple weeks, I’ve just been trying to run a few times a week, not worrying about upper body until I’ve made a habit of working out. This morning I had finished a mile and a half with a 12:45 time. I walked another quarter mile, and was ready to end when I convinced myself to keep pushing forward and run until I hit the 5K mark. The last half-mile was one of the most painful ones I’ve ever run, but I didn’t let it stop me. I finished with a 26:50 time, my best yet. (No incline though so that might be cheating.)

I'm a long time watcher of Cody's stuff and TMG so I immediately subscribed to Cody Trains when the first couple vids went up. It was honestly super inspiring to go from listening to Cody talk about running a marathon in 2017 on the original Insanely Chill to where he is today, making the best content on KZfaq by far. I started running and biking again earlier this year and am on track to hit 100 days of not missing a workout, averaging about 35k of running a week and 100k of biking and have never felt better. I've also fixed my sleep schedule and am consistently getting my 8 hours and waking up at 6:30 with a cold shower every morning which has made a huge difference in my productivity and happiness. Also interested on seeing more business stuff on Insanely Chill and cant wait for the My First Million interview with Shaan. Thanks for helping everyone ascend together, CHOO CHOO:)

Cody, I’ve been a fan of yours since college. Every time you uploaded a new video, I would put it on the tv in the living room during dinner and would force either my boyfriend (now husband) or roommates to watch and laugh with me. I’m now serving in the Army on Active Duty, and I was fairly overwhelmed and stressed for the first few months of my new job. When you posted your first video on the Cody Trains channel and talked about taking a chance on yourself and not being afraid of failure, that reignited something in me. I decided to try out for my installation’s Army 10-Miler team. We ran 10 miles as a qualifier and I ended up being one of the top female finishers and actually made it onto the team. Having that mindset has also helped during the daily struggles of training, especially after or before long work days when the last thing I want to do is run. Thank you for bringing a sense of realism and understanding to the world of health and fitness. I head to Washington D.C. in October to compete in the race, and I’ll be ascending and choo-chooing the whole way. P.S. I keep an Energy Is Everything hat on my desk for morale, and my Platoon Sergeant immediately took to the saying. We now quote “EIE” daily, as a way to get through dumb Army things.
