In this documentary and exposé on Conversion Therapy, we take you on a journey to actual C.T. camps and office buildings to show you how innocent they look on the outside, the laws they are clearly breaking inside, and show you how amazing people are trying to shut them down worldwide.

It’s just so sad that people think that beating a child and traumatizing them for life is going “un-gay” them. You can’t change someone’s sexuality, their just born that way. This pertains to gender as well. Sex is different from gender.

I was in a place that did conversion therapy as well as other things. While I was being interviewed by the pastor he asked me if I was gay (and I was there for something unrelated) and I said yes. He asked me how I felt about it (by now I was 23) and I said I had grown to embrace it. He gave me a nasty look and said well here we dont agree with that and it will not be tolerated. Instead of embracing myself and who I am, he wanted me to regress to the self hating, self harming teenager who hated himself that I used to be. Just like he hated his gay self as a middle aged 40 something man. (I strongly sensed he was closeted) Needless to say I didnt stay there long. I was happier sleeping on the street in a northeast winter for a while. Love and embrace who you are! Dont repress yourself, love yourself! 😃🌈

I can’t wait to share this with my friends, family, and loved ones just to show them how horrible this -therapy- torture is because, most of them being straight, they haven’t really had to endure a lot of the torment, bullying, internalized hatred, and struggles I have, we LGBTQ+ individuals have had to and continue to experience in our lives.

I am the good church girl who's growing up in the Texan Baptist church and in the choir and community, but who I am is sinful in their eyes, so although I love these people, I pretend and lie to try and make them think that I'm the normal girl they assume I am. It gives me people who care for me and activities to do as well as the beginnings for a relationship with God, so I pretend that I'm what they want. Only my close friends and you online know completely what I am because I would lose so much if I came out. However, I still have a reason to live. If I got put in that camp at the state I'm already in, which is already very depressed, I would most likely end up as many others in those camps did. My heart goes out to all those who were and are in those camps, and I wish for nobody else to go into those damaging facilities.

Since the conversion therapy places insist on going under a religious umbrella can they be sued for abuse and torture of minors the same way that the Catholic church was sued? Lawsuits would seriously put a dent in and possibly shut down these places of torture. They would also certainly discourage churches from seeing this as a money making operation. Not to sound cynical but too many churches place money over people's souls and they don't give a damn about the injury they cause to get that money.

I was raised in a Pentecostal church. I knew I was gay at age nine. I didn’t fully grasp it until I was 13. Meanwhile, I was going to church and being told how evil I am and how I’m going to hell and so on. I had to listen to the pastor preach about how evil gay is. I couldn’t tell anyone, I couldn’t get guidance.. etc. I fought with my feelings, I tried praying the gay away… etc etc. I thought about ending things. Etc. keep in mind, I knew without a doubt I was gay by 13 and knew I was attracted to males at nine. I didn’t choose it. In fact I tried to ignore it. I wanted to be straight, because of what my church thought. Well after I knew I am gay, I dated a girl and I was repulsed by her. I couldn’t stand being around her. Not long after, I met a boy I really liked a lot. We kissed and it was like I saw fireworks. That cemented my sexuality. Then my pastor was caught with an underage boy in a park. And my effing church forgave him! Made me sick and worst yet, my uncle molested me when I was 14. Forced me to.. do stuff. He literally forced me to. This confused me so much. Why is my church so dead set against gays but members of the church, including my pastor, were caught in gay situations even illegal situations. Finally at 16, I was caught with that boy in bed having sex. My church found out and I was removed from the church and my family disowned me. I was thrown out. Walked to a bridge and hid under the road deck and I balled and I balled myself to sleep. It destroyed me. Two years later I attempted to end myself. Landed in icu for a week. Then mental place for two weeks. I long recovered. Went to university. Got a masters. Own a home. I’m married to my man. And I’m well liked in my community. I still have demons fighting me from what happened to me. I know my church wanted to send me to suicide camp. But I declined and disowned me for it. Even still, I still tried to end myself because of what my family did, what my church did. Had I been subjected to suicide camp, o would no doubt ended myself. Theirs no HATE like religious love

I would like to clarify something that was said in this documentary: Although it’s true that §175, the paragraph that banned homosexuality in Germany, was abolished in its entirety in 1994, it was already revised in 1969, allowing homosexuality for anyone over 21. I moved to Germany in my mid-teens in 1970 and I remember clearly that gays were very open in the early 70s. In fact, although I’m straight, in my early 20s, I used to go regularly to a gay night club (I loved the drag shows!) because they were still open when our regular disco closed and we didn’t want to go home yet. They were very accepting of straight people being there just as “normal” discos were okay with gays/lesbians being there.

As I watch this a question that keeps coming to mind, and I'm sure its not original to me, is that for all the states and and other entities who are trying erase huge swaths of sexual expression and gender identities with bathroom bills, book bans, don't say gay legislation, sports participation exclusions and on and on; are all these fascist efforts to keep the reality and open dialogue about gender and sexuality being applied to the religious groomers and holy haters. Can they they have books and teachings about promoting their rigidity and fear of difference? Do these people and their deliberately ignorant legislation also ban good news clubs, teachers and counselors bringing their faith into the classroom, religious texts, and unsupported disinformation from being disseminated? By the way this was written in April 2024.

I'd be curious to know the 'success' rate of this 'therapy'. In other words, who are they claiming it has worked for? And what proof do they have that these people were a) actually gay in the first place or b) aren't simply lying now?

Congrats from Brazil! What exists here is not a legal ban on conversion therapy, but a resolution (from 1999) of the Federal Council of Psychology. This council is autonomous, and can revoke the license of professionals who are proven to practice conversion therapy. It helps a lot, but reactionaries (people, politicians, churches, ministries and organizations that have become informal - like Exodus Brasil) continue to demonize LGBT people. Fascists will not pass.
