I just came to say that you shouldn't use AI frame interpolation in animations like this. It can add some weird artifacts to the movement, and also inherently changes the deliberate choose of movements that animators intially intended for every frame. Nicely done tho!

Thanks for the comment! I have to agree with this comment although I’m not sure why people would assume that AI was used. Maybe AI is a hot topic? But yes, I’m assuming that you meant the type of frame interpolation used which was to interpret the frames by pixel motion detection. What happened in the video was frame interpolation was done before the deflickering and fixing of the frame by frame lighting difference. Frame interpolation of any type won’t work as great as it should if there are huge difference in lighting between frames. Thanks for your comment! This was something I wanted to highlight in the next possible video.

While recoloring did do a lot to the visuals. I feel the same way everyone else does about frame interpolation, adding artifacts and such. Either way still great work!

"Restoration" seems like a stretch, especially given the extra frames, but it looks like it's still pretty faithful while stabilizing the flicker that comes from the old projector.

My mistake was frame interpolating before fixing the flickering. Frame interpolation of any kind is bad news if there is a strong difference between lighting between each frame.

@@EwanLim I was getting ready to jump on you over over interpolating for the sake of framework, but it looked like you actually tried to keep the animation frames as close to the original pacing as possible with adding new smear frames
