If you go and ask a gun store if you can shoot steel, they will deny it unless its made after 91 and have the steel proofing. they just want to sell you a new gun... as cynical as it is.

At great expense usually, most american shotgun ammo is too expensive once it arrives and taxed, handled and retailed.

This is an example of putting High Performance steel through a non steel proofed gun with too much choke for HP steel

@@tgsoutdoors so long story short, minor damage with extended use in a gun not designed with steel in mind. Also use more open chokes with steel. The steel vs lead thing feels inceasingly more like peoppe not liking change vs any real issues. That said, i still think forcing people to switch is stupid af.

@@Adalon- I'm not completely opposed to the change but I've been looking into pellets energy retention over distance and steel does seem to loose it's velocity and energy much quicker than lead. Not a deal breaker but combined with the fact that bio friendly wads seem to be quite expensive particular if you reload cartridges for enjoyment like me it gets fustrating and concerning with how much the costs come down over the course of the development in the coming years. As I said I support the change, I just have concerns with how it plays out for the whole community really

You don’t know what you’re talking about, did you hear how many shells went through that gun without any issue. Obviously where you’re basing that remark off of is flawed and that is what they proved.
