Dollar tree,Dollar General and Wal-Mart silk plants are great for Bettas. If you get the little plastic shot glasses, small pebbles and some hot glue and stick some of the silk plants in the glue/rocks(used to weigh it down) mixture then let it dry for at least 24 hours. or more. It works amazing for even the smallest to the largest tanks a for a 10th of the price.

So many things with so many uses I forgot to even share! I am 'a thing (&place) for everything and everything in it's place' kind of person. If it gets too expensive, disorganized, or dirty - I can guarantee my interest/routine will dip and thereafter the health of my aquariums and inhabitants. Dollar store has been key to keeping up, and going forward. Keeping the flame alive so to speak 🔥😂Thanks for watching guys 🤗

I use many of the identical dollar store items. My Dollar Tree carries very clear faux glass catering items. The pitchers and taller boxes for candy are great for holding fish when I need t look at them more closely. The pitcher hangs on the side of the tank, perfect when scooping out duckweed! I also get super glue gel, wire, paint brushes, zip ties, razor blade holders, etc to use in lots of ways with my tanks.

i took cutting of potho plant stuck 1/4 in tank it grew roots.. no dirt just water takes nitrates and fish pee out of water i get clean glass no algae buildup. grows around top of walls around room and roots in tank for guppy babys to hide.. no fertilizer to harm fish and no dirt... im going to try with a spider plant too.. ive seen the top little cups of strawberry plants and sweet potatoes havent tried yet tho.

Even if this video is 3 years old, every single one of these tips in 2024 had me like...borderline angry at myself for not figuring out sooner but the strainer tip had me actually hitting myself in the forehead with my wrist like... WHY HAVE I BEEN TORTURING MYSELF WITH CHASING FISH IN BAGS WITH NETS WHEN THIS IS CLEARLY THE MOST AMAZING (and simple) SOLUTION. Oh my gosh. this video has honestly changed my life in more ways than I thought it could when i clicked on it!

A dust pan is great for scooping out gravel. I also got a back scrubbing brush to scrub deep tanks. Thanks guys.

Nice-looking room!

I've used various sands from the dollar store. I've tested them first to make sure they were clean and didn;t leach color, etc. It can be found where they have bags of pebbles and decorative glass jars. I use various clips from there also to hold electric wires in place, hold floating containers to side of tanks while fish acclimate to a new tank temperature. I use scent wax ceramic melters in tanks as caves for dwarf cichlids. They can be used on their sides and pushed into the substrate a bit to make the cave opening a little smaller. I have various glass vessel nano tanks and found flat round strainers to use to top them so fish don;t jump out. It's fun to find uses for dollar store items.

Late to this party of course and I think someone may have mentioned it up comment stream But I use Dollar Tree pitchers As catch boxes for netting out fish. Handle hangs on the tank. 1$ vs. 15 or 20. Always have 3 or 4 dedicated only to the fishroom. $1 shoe boxes millions of uses goes without saying.

How would you prep something from a dollar store? Like do you have to do any special cleaning of it before you can use it for your fish? Example: many things you have to clean before you use it for cooking or drinking even though it just came out of a package. So are there any chemicals in a dollar store sponge?
