nice, i actually have an 1890's house where there's still an untouched room full of this finish i kinda like and would like to restore. even some parts of walls, i was amazed when i found out it was just painted plaster. now i can go ahead and try it myself, thanks!!

Thank you for this! I want to ceruse my kitchen cabinets in a medium grey with white glazing, but the wood (not oak) doesn’t have much grain figuring, maple I think. This will be just the ticket! I’m going for a beach weathered look with dark granite countertops and wood flooring similar to the cabinets. The faux grain should look pretty sharp.

WOW! I have a front door I would like to faux paint like this. How would the glaze would hold up on the exterior of the door? Is there anything special that I will need to do or use for the exterior side of the door? Thanks. I really enjoyed the video.

Hi...I would suggest checking with your local paint provider for a durable non-yellowing, clear exterior top coat. Thanks for watching, Wes

I have done 6 doors, but do not have the roller graining tool that you used. Where do you buy the little 2-inch roller spikes?

Very nice work. Can this technique be used on an exterior facing door? Would the top coat have to be a spar finish?
@WoodworkingWithWes Жыл бұрын
Yes I have seen it done on exterior doors and I am sure an exterior grade top coat would be required. Thanks for watching, Wes

What's the best base paint to use
@jaredwilly1 Жыл бұрын
With the glazing it is not important want paint you add, you are only worried about the color. As a base coat I like using an alkyd wather based semi-gloss.

What kind of pait is the base color ? Latex, enamel ? And what finish ? Satin or flat ?
@WoodworkingWithWes Жыл бұрын
I do not know about the base color...our purpose was to show the technique. Thanks, Wes
@jaredwilly1 Жыл бұрын
It was a latex semi gloss; However, an alkyd (water clean-up) paint would be better

Great video but the white shirt was stressing me out 😅

It's stupid that oil based paint is so hard to come by anymore. I do like latex but sometimes oil based just is better. But I can hardly find it anymore. If I do it's probably because someone stores a can 15 years ago.

Over time, technology is also changing, we now produce water-based paint has better results, not necessarily old things are good.

I have yet to find a supplier that carries glaze. Menards, lowes, home depot, ace hardware, sherwin williams etc...
