The video of deep mind running is fucking hilarious, but remember it taught itself to do this on its own. It doesn't know how a human walks, it was just given a human form and told to get from point A to point B. The fact that it could learn that on its own is kinda incredible.

Yes, and there are better "learning to walk" AI videos here on KZfaq too. The Deep Mind video was just showing the results of one specific style of learning.

blasteroid Unfortunately, the flaw in your example is human babies do not actually take that long to learn how to walk. They require years to develop the physical ability to walk. Its like comparing a baby not being able to hold it's head up and an androids head being affixed

m Personally, I find it interesting that DM chose to walk like a human instead of on all fours like an animal or baby. In doing so, it had no idea what to do with its arms, which is why it looked like it was thinking, "What are these? What am I supposed to do with these!?" the entire time...

For all the making fun of an AI learning to walk, it did what took humans I don't know how many thousands of years and did it in maybe a few months. Like don't get me wrong I found this segment funny, but joking about something just because it looks or sounds a little stupid while ignoring the mindblowingly fast pace of invention is just a little disingenuous
@jameel626
@jameel626 6 жыл бұрын
It's not disingenuous; it's called making a Joke, which usually has a subject and in this case that's the AI's walk. Jokes are always at someone's expense. It's like saying we must not laugh at the Wiley Coyote because he's just a starving animal - sure but if you think like that, making a Joke would be impossible. Someone is always at the brunt of it, no matter how significant that thing or person is.
@faultier1158
@faultier1158 6 жыл бұрын
AI will always look silly until it gets out of hand for the first time. An AI that has access to the internet could get from stupid to "I spread all over the world and manipulate humans without them noticing" pretty quickly. A propaganda AI on this scale could cause a lot of harm. And it would ofc be possible to attack our infrastructure from the internet. If that happens, it might not be possible to get rid of this AI without turning the whole fucking internet off.

It was humerous until they showed the deepmind film. This is because the programme actually learned itself, it taught itself. It's not like any other living organism that can copy from another by vision or other communication. This program done it all on its own. Damn right you should be scared.
@2drealms196
@2drealms196 6 жыл бұрын
The programmers didn't program in a need for conservation of energy and move about as energy efficiently as possible. All they programmed in was to get from point A to point B. The arms are flailing in order to increase momentum, it works but its not energy efficient.
