@@eschwarz1003 It's really the biggest use case. Everyone else is okay with either humanoid robots that don't look at all like people, think your Robbie the Robots and such, or not humanoid at all like Roombas. Frankly even the humanoid robot thing might be a bit too much, it's not we're particularly built well to begin with.

More Terminator 2: Judgment Day quotes John: Now don't take this the wrong way, but you are a Terminator, right? Terminator: Yes. Cyberdyne Systems Model 101. John: [pokes at one of Terminator's bullet wounds] Holy sh*t! You're really real! I mean, you're like a machine underneath, right? But sort of alive outside? Terminator: I'm a cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton. John: This is intense. Get a grip, John. Okay, um, you're not here to kill me. I figured that part out for myself. So what's the deal? Terminator: My mission is to protect you. John: Yeah? Who sent you? Terminator: You did. 35 years from now, you reprogrammed me to be your protector here, in this time. John: Oh, this is deep.

It takes some real audacity to claim that replacing your workers with robots will be "creating new career opportunities for your people."
@AlanXEverfrost
@AlanXEverfrost Жыл бұрын
Considering you'll need some people trained to take care of machines that weren't there before, there will be "new" career oppertunities. Not MORE careers, but a fraction of the ones lost will be replaced with something different. So, new. It's happened before in many factories. A lot of the conveyor belt jobs in a lot of factories have been fased out by machines, but those machines need to be programmed, maintained, repaired, cleaned and tested. There are also the people that have to manufacture and install them.

@@AlanXEverfrost Yeah, I've worked in an assembly plant for AC compressors and while the work is largely automated (the larger, commercial use compressors were made entirely by bots, as were many of the internal components), we still had a lot of open positions all over the plant. Not to mention that someone needs to be keeping an eye on the machines to make sure they're running properly and are stocked up with materials should they need them. There was still a lot of physical work throughout the plant including testing, taking compressors off the line (all the compressors were hooked onto a chain that ran throughout the building, so no need to move them by hand), labelling, moving parts between machines, prepping for shipping, etc. The thing about technology in relation to work is that often times, stuff that's intended to make things easier on workers ends up leading to them getting MORE work because they are able to do the previous amount of work faster (for example, computers leading to an increase in office work). It does end up causing a bit of a chain reaction in work, too, since more work in a certain field means more is being produced and used, meaning that suppliers have to increase their output to keep up, which means expansions in both workers and facilities (if necessary), not to mention the jobs created to produce the devices that kicked off those changes in the first place.

The jetpack is interesting. I've seen other videos featuring them. Adam Savage did one. You really need good upper body strength for them, though, since you're holding on to a pair of thrusters that are powerful enough to lift you. I look forward to some random rich idiot trying one out and firing himself into a wall. The robots with humanlike skin is probably mostly to protect them from weather, possibly with a side of improved prosthetics. Personally I want a robot that can help me with housework and plot against Jeff Bezos with me vastly more than I want a sex robot. Might be useful for people with mobility trouble who aren't having any luck dating, though.

I’m pretty sure men aren’t just more prone to using sexbots, but they’re also more likely to stand and kneel to use a sexbot too.

That robot seems silly. It appears to use wind to blow several jets of water to its target, but doesn't that also blow a lot of oxygen at the fire too?
@DeathBean89
@DeathBean89 Жыл бұрын
I would guess that it uses the air to push the water above the fire, then let it rain down. It's the same idea as a snow gun that ski resorts use for making snow

@@DeathBean89 I guess, but most structural fires are on the inside. Not sure how effective that thing would be in Forest fires and such, where the roof isn't typically covered with a roof.
@NorthernSeaWitch
@NorthernSeaWitch Жыл бұрын
The fire will get oxygen regardless, using water is meant to reduce the temperature of the structure below its combustion point so the burning stops. CO2 extinguishers operate by displacing oxygen, as do foam and powder by blanketing the surface and creating a barrier.
