The rings seat into the honed groves in the cylinder wall, and follow the honed angle down the cylinder, and back up ⬆️ the cylinder. That’s the cause of ring rotation. That’s why a cylinder that’s seen long periods of high rpm looks like a mirror 🪞. The ring rotating have polished the cylinders. Even after the cylinders have been ring polished. They continue to rotate.

Dont really see what you're saying about overlap. Is 'overlap' just the web being thicker?

by overlap he means there is more material between the main journal and the rod journal. the more material, the more inherent strength. because cranks deal with the twisting forces applied (as well as side thrust) by an engine, the more material between angled sections the better. if you look at the crank on the angle he is when he explains overlap, you will see a small overlap of the main and rod journals relative to the crank axis. its harder to explain in words than it is to draw in a diagram or physically show but i hope it helps lol

Don't know why but I have a bad feeling about those rods .......
