From the outside, it looked like the divorce between Steven Williams and Tricia Todd was amicable. Behind closed doors though, Steven wanted full custody of his daughter and in order to get it, he wanted Tricia erased.

This bothers me, because I did 20 years in the military, and I knew a lot of drunks with impeccable records, who treated their families like crap.... Having an outstanding service record shouldn't clear you of anything. There's decorated policemen who go home, drink and brutalize their spouses.... The fact that he had a good service record, and that cleared him of being a suspect originally is ridiculous. I'm a combat veteran, I would think that if something happened to somebody in my life that you would look into me, because I could possibly be prone to violence. These were some ridiculous assumptions on the investigators part

I agree 100%. I didn't find her father's forgiveness noble or honorable at all...I found it to be very strange behavior. He told this psycyho that he "failed" him? What the is that even supposed to mean? If someone had done this to my daughter, he'd be begging for life without parole, grateful to be securely locked up away from me.

Once when I was speaking to my therapist in regards to concerns I had about my daughter's father and his emotionally abusive ways she said "please do not keep this to yourself. Share the things he says and do that worry you with your family or someone close. That way, should anything ever happen they won't be in the dark about who he really is". Steven Williams was a monster way before he did this. I just wish she had let her family know his true nature.

I will never understand families that forgive the person who BRUTALLY murdered their loved one, to me it feels like the person who was murdered was worthless to them, it makes me sick. Courtney, I totally get where you are coming from. If I may, Forgiveness in these type of cases is to not allow the perpetrator the power to continue infecting the surviving loved ones by the byproduct of hate. It’s difficult to cherish the life our loved ones lived if our minds and hearts are occupied with the one event that led to one’s premature demised. It’s too much power to give to those who have done wrong. Forgiveness is like taking out the trash so our minds and hearts can be cleared to honor those deserving to be in such sacred places within us. We don ‘t put trash on a pedestal. We throw that sh** away or flush it! Respectfully. Forgiveness is beyond powerful thus why it is not very commonly used.

@@sheilavayenas2016no, churches absolutely don't do that. Forgiveness is very much a Christian value, but perfect adherence is not expected. However those in faith, and mental health professionals will tell you Forgiveness isn't something you do for the perpetrator, it's something you do for yourself. Remember, anger is like taking poison in the hopes that someone else gets sick. You should be as toxic as you want, but you don't get to tell someone else that they are wrong for dealing with it how they see fit. You need to get some help because you are toxic AF.

So she was magnanimous and declined to seek any alimony from him, at all, something that she was legally entitled to, and he was obligated to provide. Yet he talks about her with such disdain and contempt when referencing their conversations over Skype. He doesn’t seem to realise how good he’d got it, that she was generous in allowing him to escape his financial duty to her and their child. Edited to add: Wow! People responding to my comment seem far more upset by the concept of alimony payments (which the killer wasn’t even having to pay) rather than the whole murder part! Very strange…

And we've been struggling to keep up this crappy mortgage etc. He even tried to get out of child support for their 3 kids. Government let him steal their taxes and stimulus and he took money from my granddaughters college fund. HER money that she saved. Some people should just live alone. And not get married or have kids. And our system sucks🙄😡

@summer-no6fx Well, since alimony is a part of a divorce, it always applies to an adult. The point of alimony, which can be paid to either the man or the woman, is to adjust for the income disparity between the two. If one spouse makes 100k a year and the other makes 50k a year, they are both used to a higher means of living. When they divorce, the one who made more generally pays the other one for a period of time so they can survive at the same means.

When Steven first talked to the detective in the interview saying that his ex wife was always nicer in person than on the phone, I knew right then that she was afraid of him and that he had beat her. I know because I was in a similar situation

I was in the Army for 8 years, and my Husband just retired after 24 years. The military doesn't make people psychopaths. It just attracts them more so than other occupations. The lure of obtaining significant power over a lot of people attracts people who are pathological. It doesn't help that to obtain that rank and power, you have to be willing to throw everything and everyone under the bus and view people not as people but as assests and risks. The military structure actually favors this thought process.

Brilliant police work, why would the ex be a suspect, he seems so nice?. Apart from bashing her occasionally. And he passed the lie detector, a device so poorly supported by evidence you’d do a similar job by holding the subjects hands like Bob Di Nero in Meet the Parents. Finally how did they see through his entirely plausible story of yes I left her unconscious body out in the middle of nowhere with her phone just in case she came to I am after all, a compassionate man and I really care. I wouldn’t hurt a fly even if that fly was totally unreasonable in its demands for alimony.

Especially when it comes to partner homicide, it is easy to let your guard down when someone has been able to manipulate you for years, even after you’ve left them. Meanwhile the truth is he murdered Tricia, dismembered her body, poured acid on her and ripped her teeth from her skull. What a POS! He didn’t deserve to be in Tricia’s life let alone have a child with Tricia. I hope there is prison justice taken out on this less then human psychopathic murderer. My God judge you Steven for the rest of eternity. May you never rest again and endlessly be tortured within your soul and body. The U.S. military absolutely should have prosecuted Steven and sentence to death since our U.S. court system failed Tricia by giving him a plea deal.

Tricia and Steven lived in my community, sat in front of me in church and she was a precious, loving dear friend!! He was never very talkative and didn't interact much at church. The last time I spent with Tricia was when she was packing up to head to Florida...she confided some infidelities to me but never appeared afraid he would harm her. She was not the kind of person to ":set up" anything as he was suggesting. All Tricia wanted was her daughter and to raise her happily in the faith that she held so dear. I understand a lot of people dont understand the forgiveness given by her family but to each his own....we all have different ways of coping.

Why was it so important for her to be erased? I saw this on another show and his own mother believed he did it without a second thought. She seemed sweet and sought out peace only to be killed by a monster.

This story makes me SICK in so many ways!!1) Stephen sounds like a 3 y.o. lying! From "I didn't think of calling 911" to instead of taking her back to her home takes her somewhere he doesn't know/ remember? Although he grew up there? I take that back! Even my 3y.o. knows to call 911!! 2) Tricia's dad saying Stephen was a good man- blah, blah, blah. He's forgiven him. Although in her diary he was becoming more abusive. (Not too mention they NEVER found ALL her body parts!) Good job looking the other way, 'DAD'. UGHHHH And Lastly 3) Stephen was in the Air Force? a)Don't they do testing & evaluations for MENTAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, INTELLIGENCE, etc.. anymore? b) They didn't bother investigating/charging him either, even though he was still ACTIVE? Well, no surprise there, just goes to show how far down our military haven fallen & CORRUPT become!! Ex. Vanessa Guillen, Ana Basalduaruiz -Fort Hood. (Hence why I'll NEVER LET my CHILDREN join & I come from a fam of military)! He should NEVER get out! 35yrs? It's a JOKE!😢

Trisha was unresponsive but breathing….This is the exact moment we would all call 911 without hesitation, just the instinctual human reaction! There is only 1 reason someone doesn’t do that,…And it’s not panic, the reaction to panic is to seek help, again 911. It requires one to suppress the instinctual urge to call for help and act deliberately and clearly.
