SRV rarely played the same song the same way twice. Tommy Shannon had to watch him to see where he was going. At a 1987 performance, Stevie was a year sober following a heavy addiction to drugs and alcohol when he made a speech about his addiction.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitar is a Fender Statocaster he bought in 1974 from a man named Ray Henny who own a shop called Ray Henny's Heart Of Texas Music Shop, he is using 13 gage strings. This song Texas Flood was written by Larry Davis and Joseph Scott in 1955 when Joseph Scott was having relationship problems, in 1958 Larry Davis recorded Texas Flood and alot of people have covered this song. Stevie released his album Texas Flood on June 13,1983, when Stevie found out that Larry Davis never got payed royalties Stevie paid Larry Davis every dime out of his own pocket. Stevie started playing guitar when he was 7 yrs old and his older brother Jimmie Vaughan who is 3 yrs older then Stevie got an electric guitar, Stevie would play Jimmie's guitar when he would leave the house. On Stevie's 7th birthday he got a toy guitar and even though it was a toy Stevie taught himself how to play Wine Wine Wine by Stick McGhee and Thunderbird by The Night Caps, I thought that was amazing. When Stevie was 10 yrs old he joined a band called The Chantones, he had his first gig at a roller rink in Austin Texas so Jimmie gave Stevie his electric guitar, Stevie had that guitar and played it from time to time throughout his hole career. Stevie joined alot of bands but in 1977 Stevie put a band together called The Triple Threat Reuve with Lou Ann Barton on vocals but when Lou Ann left on November 24,1979 Stevie took over on vocals. His drummer Chris Layton joined The Triple Threat Reuve on September 10,1978 and in 1980 Stevie changed the name to Double Trouble, on June 23,1981 a old friend of Stevie's named Tommy Shannon joined Double Trouble, Tommy and Stevie were in a band called Krackerjack when Stevie was still in school. Stevie's career only span 7yrs but he accomplished so much in that 7yrs starting with the release of his first album Texas Flood. Stevie was the first musician to be inducted into The Austin Music Hall Of Fame in 1983, he was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame in 2000 and in 2015 Stevie was inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Stevie won 6 Grammys, 10 W.C.Handy National Blues Awards and 10 Austin Music Awards. On December 13 1983 Austin City Limits video was voted Guitar Player Magazine's Best New Talent, Best Electric Blues Guitar Player and Best Guitar Album with Texas Flood, Stevie and Jeff Beck are the only Triple Award Guitarist ever. On November 18,1984 Stevie won a W.C.Handy National Blues Award, Entertainer Of The Year and Instermental Of The Year, he was the first white man to win either but sadly he never got to enjoy a #1 hit until after his death with Crossfire. On August 26,1990 Stevie flew to East Troy Wisconsin to open 2 shows for Eric Clapton along with Robert Clay, Buddy Guy and his brother Jimmie, Jimmie said Stevie came down from his hotel room and told them he had a weird dream that he died and he was looking down at all these people crying but even though he was dead he felt at peace. On August 27,1990 after Eric Clapton finish out his show Stevie along with the others went on stage and jammed with Eric Clapton, Sweet Home Chicago by Robert Johnson would be the last song Stevie would ever play. After the show Stevie boarded a helicopter that crashed into the side of a mountain and everyone on board were killed instantly, the pilot had just failed his test on using the gages for that helicopter, he never flew at night or in fog and he never flew that type of helicopter. Sorry I just meant to tell you about his guitar and the song, the information I have is by Jimmie Vaughan, Double Trouble and Stevie himself through interviews, their stories told by them and no one else. Interesting. I have never heard that story about him not being able to wake up for the show. I was actually at this show by chance when I was 17. A co-worker had tickets, and the person he was going with bailed on him so he asked if anyone wanted to go, and I was the only one who said yes. I wasn't a blues fan at all and didn't know who he was. The guy I went with was a guitar player, but didn't really know who he was either just that he was supposed to be pretty good. He got the tickets through our work. The place wasn't even full. After the show I got to talk to Chris Layton a little bit (I'm drummer) and he was nice and quite friendly. It was really fun night and opened me up to the blues (no small feat for a teen in the 80's 😆) which later lead to my love of jazz. It's pretty wild all these years later seeing people reacting to this show I was at as a kid.

The best guitarist (connected to his guitar) ever. This was over 2 years before Stevie and his Bassist got sober. ONE hour before this performance Stevie was unconscious and in a cocaine induced coma. Medical personnel came in and with IV fluids and vitamins were able to rouse him just before going on stage. Hence the extra extra notes and sweat (iv fluids sweating out of him). This is the guy that made me go from trumpet and sax to buying a guitar.

He was bending .12 gauge strings, too, not slinky to get that heavier sound. He had to have very strong fingers to do some of those bends.

I was at Alpine Valley Wisconsin that foggy Sunday night when Stevie went down in the copter. The show ended with Stevie jamming with Jimmy Vaughn, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton. The last song he ever played on stage was Sweet Home Chicago. Odd thing is, that is where he was flying to went he crashed

I was at this show with three friends, one table back from the front, when you play the Stevie ray video, you can see me with the black hair and pink T-shirt at 2:15 count on your video, I’m a guitar player. Actually, there were three of us at that table that were guitar players, it changed, my DNA, I saw him two times after that, he was always great, but never that great again, that show is insane, I jumped up on stage after the show was over and grab the guitar pick out of his strings, and I quickly put my hand around the neck of his number one stripe. It was right on the stand right there 10 feet from me, small bar, small stage, that neck was like a baseball bat, fun times.

Are we advanced enough yet to like pinpoint and isolate a drop of sweat on the first wife from that night, and clone and replicate that once in a galaxy way back yak

The story is BS. I knew him. People sensationalize famous people all the time. He did have a coke problem, but that story isn’t accurate.
