At least you are willing to admit that there was contact. I am 100% certain that Szobo could have stayed on his feet if he wanted to. Does that make it "soft"? According to some, perhaps. I respect the argument that the PL should give out fewer "soft" pens. Recognize this one is not even an outlier as PL pens go -- take that as you will. Probably a third of the PL pens involve similar "dives", from what I have seen.

@@Hassan32132 I think you are barking up the wrong tree. The call was made on the field. VAR will intervene if the call looks out of line with how most referees would adjudicate the play. Those "soft" pens are usually given in the top flight leagues these days. I respect the opinion that fewer pens should be given, but it is difficult to argue that whistle was a mistake in the existing context of the modern game. 30-40 years ago, I would expect that not to be given in England. Today is today.
