A thing I love about skating is how hyped other skaters get when you land a trick you are battling. Last weekend I learnt boardslides and all this guy who was really good was psyched for me. We might be trying different trick but we are all fighting the same fears inside.

That crook was gnarly! Thanks for sharing your approach. At my local, I'm afraid of the down rail. I've down back and front board. And I have front fifties, front smiths, front blunts on lock on a tall flat bar. But I can't bring myself to take the next step. I have fifties and five os down the hubba that is similar height to the down rail too. Just can't get over the hump to try a grind trick on the down rail once. I know that's all I need to do and then I'll have 3 more tricks down it.

This is another brill vid thanks matt. I admit I’m not a skateboard but would suggest that this solid technique will work in many walks of life. As a muso I’m going to try this and crack my fears. This channel is the best on KZfaq in my opinion. Keep them coming. I was on the edge of my seat watching that rail in Copenhagen 😂

I love this! Super helpful and insightful. The part where you included the dude you were helping is encouraging as well. Now if you could break this down for 50-50's on round flat bars, that would be awesome. ha!

Thanks Matt! Love your work. This one's great.. in the back of my mind, I believe I kind of already do this (albeit not doing 40'-0" long K-Grind); but it's encouraging to get this reassurance and break down from an actual pro... excellent job at Copenhagen open! Proud of you!

"Tricking your brain into feeling okay with the trick you're trying to do" fr facts! I've been learning this the hard way with trying to get myself comfortable on ollies up small-medium ledges and euros. I'm really uncomfortable trying to ollie up ledges cause I got way too used to ollie over things like sideways cones, aka things that gave me time to reach my peak. I have the technical skills but it's such a mental battle! I have to warm up with my own DIY obstacles to jump over to trick my brain like you said lol. Do you think you could make a video about ollies over obstacles and ways to break them down? Because I don't know how to break down the process of jumping up a ledge unless I have smaller obstacles to warm up first... like should I purposely slam into it? Okay sorry rant over LOL. Thanks for the awesome vid!

Im a beginner one problem i find with breaking up tricks and making little progression at a time is that bailing tricks in the mid air or not fully comitting sometimes is more dangerous than fully commiting and going with the momentum.Dont you agree??Also you get in the habbit of not comitting so i lose my tricks or whatever i learned and back at half/doing em half comiting.

Hey, im 15 and i got injured like a couple of times this month. One was a back injury and now a rolled ankle. What im worried about is will it affect my knees and back once i get older or does it help to stay flexible and stuff?

The body is best resilient and heals up in amazing ways. I'm 42 and skate a few times a week and thought no way that would be possible when I was your age . Do some of the exercises this channel suggests, be patient with your progress and you will be all good. Long term problems with people's bodies are almost always from lack of use not over use.

Hey! Solid advice from @vancouverbill I would also recommend hitting up a physiotherapist to get some specific recommendations. The chances of it affecting you as you get older are possible, but if you rehab properly and stay on top of rehab exercises you'll be fine. After that, keep training and you'll reduce the chance of injury and speed up how you fast you bounce back the next time you might get injured.

@@TheDailyPush Thanks for the advice! I actually skate once each week and whenever i get injured i try to skate the next week immediately. And i do my warm up exercises before doing tricks so
