Thank you for this Sheila, Bump love ladies. For me I have had this terrible pain for the last 23yrs.of my life and didn't know there may be internal organ damage(s).Thought if my maternal Aunties and paternal Aunties had the same pain...then it's the norm! I would throw up,have pain in the legs, bones from my pelvis down, used to take painkillers, like ibuprofen, diclofenac, diclofenac drips it was madness the first day. It is still painful, but now I use diclofenac suppositories, day 1&2 .My Dr.Aunty helped me find that solution about 8yrs now. Kindly share the gynecologist 's contact so that I may also go and get checked .

Hey Bump Love. Thank you for giving Sheila the Stage to talk about this. Stage 4 EndoWarrior here, and it took 15 years for me to be properly diagnosed. This was 17 years after my Adenomyosis Diagnosis. It has been quite the journey, Some days I am in so much pain I honestly just want to give up on life. But proper nutrition, Exercise, Surrounding myself with a Community that cares Plus being in Endo Support Groups, Lots of Prayer, Maintaining the right combination of meds, both for pain management and Hormonal ones and taking it a day at a time, gets me through. I pray that one day, Endometriosis will be an easy to diagnose and treat thing. That our Work places will be kinder to Us when we cannot be at work. And when insurance companies will be willing to cover cost of Surgeries n Medication.

Was also diagnosed with endometriosis at bethany Hospital after visiting many gyns with no conclusive diagnosis. There is a doctor there called Andabati, he is the first doctor who explained everything so well and after performed laparascopy on me. Well since then the pain is no more plus I saw results. It's been 3 years since and am very grateful I went for the surgery.

I had Endo when I was a teenager into my 20s . I had such painful periods to the point that i would vomit because of the pain. I never got treatment, but one thing I did after lots of research was change my eating habits entirely. I cut out sugar, dairy, and processed foods, bleached foods, rice wheat sodas, anything that's not plant based. I eat clean from using only olive oil or ovacado oil. Very rarely do i eat out, and when i do, im very picky about where i eat. I had a tranvaginal exam, and the gyno said i was all clear, and I have not felt period pains in over 10 years. I have regular periods that last about 4 days. When I'm on my periods I make it a point to drink green juice and eat lots of steamed foods. My whole life now relovles around what I eat, basically. I refused contraceptives to treat Endo. Actually, a friend warned me against them and encouraged me just continue eating the way I eat plus excercise. I should also add that I take vit B, omega 3, and vit C supplements religiously. There is a group on Club house that I follow. Lot's of discussions about Endo and how many women have used nutrition to treat Endo. It's such an amazing group. I encourage anyone interested to join.

The Doctor in Kenya is the first person who ever listened to my story comprehensively and he’s the one that diagnosed me with it. I’ve had 4 surgeries since and we’re still moving strong by the grace of God. I can fully understand the pain she is narrating and even worse. i went to many hospitals that diagnosed me with endometriosis at first (the pain is so dreading that you hate life because of over bleeding ur constantly anemic this is a situation where you literally push out clots like ur pushing a baby) and no amount of pain killers can help you i would take overdose, but nothing would work its worse than labor pains. It always starts with small, small fibroids that then grow and become very big that you will need surgery. when i did the first surgery the situation got worse where i got Adhesions (these are like rubber bands that attach your organs together) that my stomach was stuck to the back. After the surgery the pain even got worse than before i went to almost all the big hospitals in Kampala and doctors couldn't find exactly where the issue was i suffered for almost a year and i was tired of going to Hospitals as doctors couldn't understand the pain i was narrating to the extent that they thought i was making up the pain. After that i told God that i was tired with life and am ready to die i won’t try any hospital again until God himself shows me where to go. And one day God led me to Ruby Hospital where i found DR Ozele and the issue was diagnosed and i had to go through another surgery to rectify everything. (Being a Christian who had prayed over the situation to change i told God that if i was going to be operated again and still suffer i don't want to leave the operating room alive. let me die there.) i then made it out of surgery and ever since i have never gone through that pain my periods are normal. Thank God i didn't lose any tubes or anything and now what i have learnt is i have to pray for my Uterus everyday and cleanse it with the blood of JESUS.

I was had an open surgery for fibriods, but still pain didn't ho. I was advised to do laparoscopy but during the process, the doctor found out that I had a frozen pelvis and couldn't do much. He later advised to go in for an open surgery which iam afraid of.

First, i want to thank you for the endless research you make for us (audience/subscribers/bump lovers) and a very big Thank you to Ms. Sheila for her bravery and willingness to share her story. This brings me to my question, is there a way we could bring her doctor (the one who diagnosed her) to tell us more about this Endometriosis disease (in a Doctor's perspective). I feel like we need more information on this topic. However, again a BIG BIG THANK YOU. Again am not sure why i re-watched but the chills still re-appear.

Hello Sheila, thank you for sharing your story. Endometriosis may be more common than we diagnose it as doctors. It's taught as a topic in medical school but taking it out of the school to practice is another. I will not just stop at managing dysmenorrhoea as usual but will do more to rule out Endometriosis. I am impressed with the mindset in beating Endometriosis. God heal you

Thanks Shiela for sharing, i am also in the journey with Endometriosis & Symptoms. when you talk of the pain...OMG i understand it all. A number of times I've been rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night coz of the extreme pain that i thought could take my life. Our stories seem similar, i also started my periods at the age of 14 but with a lot of pain. In the beginning i thought it was normal and along the way i was told that when you give birth the pain stops, i had my first child at 21 now a mother of three and i am 38 but the pain never ever stopped instead intensified. But thank God i managed to locate a doctor last year through radios awareness programs and i am going through treatment and the process of diagnosis was similar to what you explained.i am now in the process of scheduling for a surgery, was a little scared but i feel encouraged by your story. Thanks Bump love for spreading awareness. I'd love to address Angie's comment at around 29:40. I'm a woman in my 30s that isn't married or a mother either. I think there's a narrative that we must be depressed all the time. In fact, past a certain age, a certain acceptance and peace comes that is hard to explain. Far from depressed, we've found meaning and fullness in our lives. We've become mature women through a different journey and our lives are just as full. Sheila is beautiful, perfectly articulate, mature, balanced -- she stands her ground while being perfectly calm and friendly. She's a good representative for us single childless women. I feel so proud. I'm open to marriage and family if the right Christian man comes along but lately haven't felt that I lack anything. I just wanted to say please don't make the guest feel she should be sad.

Thank you Mary for your kind words :) I honestly wasn't made to feel sad, not at all, and not by anyonell! I actually liked that we had this particular bit of the conversation because endometriosis does affect one's fertility and motherhood is a big desire for most women. And feeling sad is okay too, if one's desire isn't fulfilled. Nonetheless, I do understand what you mean esp as women have generally been socialized to think our value is dependent on being wives and mothers. We are valuable simply because we are made in God's image. Period. 🤗

Thank you so much Bumplove for giving Sheila this platform! You have educated me. I have been seeing a comment about ' no sign of endometrial or endometriosis ' or endo something from my medical reports and I didn't know what it meant. I am glad that I know, I know someone that calls herself an endometriosis survivor and I was like ohhh! As long as she survived thank God. Surely we thank God,that's life threatening. God bless your soul Sheila fro educating us,I pray we all try to check our systems as we grow. I was diagnosed with a syndrome towards 30! Isn't it weird how we tend to take life serious later on! May we educate the younger girls.

Very very educational. Sheila, thanks for opening up and sharing details about this journey. May the good Lord continue to guide and protect you unceasingly 🙏🏿 I am in awe of your strength and resilience. I really admire your faith and belief in the Christian doctrine. May you continue to live in and unveil your true purpose. Like you said kids are a gift from God, also if you feel indifferent about having any, it is very fine. Having kids might not be the end all or be all for everyone. Discover and live your purpose. Also, if you ever still get a knack for motherhood, know that there are needy kids in society always waiting to be mothered, young girls & boys in need of mentorship, direction and guidance which some biological parents are unable to offer, even just the support group you’ve created are all ways one can do to elevate the community. I wish you well and your blessings will keep coming. Stay safe🥰

Any strength and resilience I have comes from God alone. I won't lie, I was tired of the pain last year. I wanted out. Great discussion about Endometriosis. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis a couple of years ago. Fortunately, I live in a developed world(Canada) and I started educating myself about Women's Health. I was blessed to seek alternative therapy using BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES. Bioidentical Hormones are hormones that come from plants(usually soybeans or wild yams). These Bioidentical Hormones are chemically modified to be identical to human Hormones. Unfortunately, most Doctors are not educated about Women's health. Black women especially are prone to Fibroids and Endometriosis. Ugandan Doctors really need to pay attention to Women's Health. Some women have other diseases such as PCOS(Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), a condition in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens(Male sex Hormones). Others have Fibroids and many women suffer silently because of lack of knowledge about Women's reproductive system. Some women have issues with infertility or miscarriages. All these issues can be linked to Fibroids or Endometriosis. Unfortunately these conditions are hereditary. If your mother had Fibroids or Endometriosis, chances are you are at risk for developing the same condition.

Shalom, her faith and knowledge really left me speechless, I had very painful periods for many years to the extend I was given a free day from school every month but am grateful after having my Son I was healed of that pain. It was just funny when I hear people say Labour's are the worst thing they have experienced I waited for the Labour pains to exceed the crumps and it didn't happen so after bath I was walking like normal though I had bee feeling stitched So when people normalise periods I just feel its offensive. Thanks for sharing this ladies, shalom and blessings to Sheila may the God who see us all give you complete hearing and give you a husband and twins. Amina

I am so glad this was shared with me. Thank you Sheila for spreading this awareness. I have struggled with endo for more than a decade. I practically had to fight for myself to be heard by someone- ANYONE! I have had 5surgeries to date though currently been advised to pause given that sometimes these laparoscopies can contribute to spreading the tissue to other areas. My endo is currently all over my body and reached my liver. Being treated with some medication which is more like for temporary menopause. It has slowed down the growth and helped reduce pain but also no periods as I was being hospitalized each month and this completely affects day to day life. It is not easy at all but God continues to see me through it all.
