Justin Hartway No matter what you do, it's always going to sound kind of like an lawnmower, because it's a 4 cylinder. But a full exhaust (headers too) with resonators always sounds pretty cool, even if it isn't a V8.

Does it make a difference in sound removing the piping and leaving it like that vs removing the piping and actually adding a 2.5” straight pipe? There is nothing like hearing your car for the first time, after that first exhaust mod. It’s always enjoyable, and entertaining.....even when it comes out sounding like shit. That being said....it doesn’t sound bad. On the outside. I had a Ford Edge Sport with the 3.7L and straight piped it...it sounded like ass on the inside, too. The outside sounded pretty nice. Must be a Ford thing. 🤷🏾♂️

I'm assuming you took off everything from the end of the downpipe back? It doesn't sound too much different than my 2013 2.0EB with a muffler delete. The drone was horrible the first few thousand miles, but the car has gotten used to the vibrations put out by the exhaust. It's still drone-y though.

Reminds me of when my 2005 Ford Escape 2.3 had a broken flex pipe. People kept asking me when I would fix it, but I kept stalling because I actually liked the sound. It didn't go as loud as this Fusion though 😆

If you just ran a straight pipe back to the end of the car, it might be a good compromise.
