Not that I looked into it very deeply, but I always assumed it was just the CDR flying the STA missions. I wasn’t aware that the PLT was flying approaches, too. I’m learning something new about the Shuttle program everyday with these videos.

Super neat! Where do you get this footage? This is clearly the pre-edit full reel, which would then be cut up and voiced over for an actual presentation of some kind. Hence the 15 glamour shots of the planes.
