BLITZ AND I HIKE INTO MONTANA'S CABINET MOUNTAINS IN MID MARCH ON AN OVERLY OPTIMISTIC ADVENTURE TO REACH THE GRAMBAUER TIE TRAIL #319 FROM WILLIAM'S CREEK TRAIL #322. WE ALSO REVEAL HOW GRAMBAUER MOUNATIN AND TAYLOR PEAK GOT THEIR NAMES.
SIDE NOTE: I DID NOT NOR HAVE I EVER FLOWN MY DRONE IN THE WILDERNESS AREAS. SO THE JACK HOLE THAT CALLED THE FS TO TURN ME IN CAN KINDLY F.O...

I'm gonna shoot for Taylor Peak this weekend and try to find a spot with a view of Falls Creek Lake(s)and stay the night . You're more than welcome to join in on the adventure if u guys want. Will be another grinding trail.

Yep a way to keep their memory alive. So their is conflicting information...one source says they were prospectors the other said they worked for the forest service. I'm gonna go on a limb and say they probably actually worked for the FS.

Hi Jess. Beautiful drone shots of the Cabinets------ also the little water falls. Good to see you out on the trail again, good training to try to get back in shape for the hikes to come. I know it takes time to get the shots but also to edit. Keep up the good work on your videos and enjoy the great outdoors at the same time, Thanks.

Yeah it will be nice this year to finally come into shape with my lungs back in shape. I hit the treadmill and stair stepper hard...but nothing beats actual hiking with a pack on...so that's what alot of these day hikes are...just training and practicing with a camera. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch.

Your videos of the cabinets and surrounding area are great to watch. I grew up in Libby and come up each summer and try and hike and fish as much as possible. You may know my parents Junior and Margie Johnson. They are lifelong resident of Libby. In fact my dad worked for the forest service Trail crew for many years and knows all these areas well. Thanks for sharing

First....thanks for watching and commenting greatly appreciated. If your dad lives down off highway 2 near the river i may have assessed his property a few years back....who ever it was worked for the forest service and was retired and knew a crap load about the cabinets. The fella had an old miners cabin that he hauled in and was trying to preserve...it was pretty awesome. I try to do the best i can with these and have a little fun and hopefully inform people. The big thing is just capturing my memeories so i can go back and watch these when i can no longer get up in the mountains.

That’s not my dad, but you may know my cousin who passed away recently. I believe at one time I heard you worked for at the courthouse. My cousin is Clyde Ross. His mom was my mom’s sister. Do you still work at the courthouse. What year did you graduate from Libby? I graduated in 88.

Cool video. Pretty scary about the lack of snow. Same situation here in New England. Not so much a fire hazard as a drought hazard. The reservoirs are deceptively full but the ground water can’t be very high. A few weeks of dry weather and everything will be crisp. Rivers and streams will drop fast. Vernal pools are in jeopardy this spring.

Oh man! It's quite the price to pay to have a Ridge or a mountain named after you. Which begs the question...why do we name stuff after people who died rather than when they are alive and they might enjoy the acalades. Humans a strange breed indeed.

Yeah I caught that I 4got Norman mountain during the edit. Hard to remember everything, walk, film , and keep an eye on the hound all at the same time. A few years ago when I went up about the same distance I was toast...this time it was super easy. Granted I was taking my time and stopping alot to take pictures and fly drone. Yes it seems they were indeed forest service employees.

Yes my ex cassie saw him in person a week ago and said he looks a lot bigger. I think my mom is giving him extra milk bone treats when she is babysitting and I am at work. I had to step back and look...yeah I would say he is 140 now instead of the 130 or 125 I like him to be. Now that its staying light longer and weather is better...nightly walks again no its and or buts.

History AND Hiking! Yes! Love seeing the sorta-snow capped peaks. Do you use your drone for the walk-by’s that you do?
@hyoh-wu
@hyoh-wu Ай бұрын
Use my phone for 80% of my shots....those walk by shots with movement are with the DJI pocket 3 with the active track...kinda like using that lately...gives the viewer a sense that maybe someone else is there...and kinda gives it that hand held look. Now that I think about it ...I could just put the drone on the ground and use its active track and get the same thing...just no audio. Yeah whenever I can I like to give some history...we know the names of the mountains or creeks...but why are they called that? It always interests me. Actually after I left the grave yard I felt kinda sad thinking I'm probaly the only one in a long time who has visited Grambauers grave. Just kinda make me think in 100 years who the hell will remember our names and what we did.
