I’m under the impression you change your water pump when replacing the cam belt ? I m not sure on this as I’m completely new too this. Never changed a battery 😜 and I’ve bought a forester s turbo and now im thinking I’m a mechanic 👨‍🔧

Hahhahahaha don't worry, i learned mechanics breaking some stuff... Timing belt on Subarus is easy, all is marked and you dont need any special timing tool Cheers

Hello and great video! I bought a 2004 Impreza 2.5L turbo wagon that had the original motor pulled and replaced with a 2.2L from an unknown Subaru model. The kid pulled the 2.5 and put the whole 2.2 with its intake and manifolds into the car. It is difficult to start and when it does start it backfires a lot and has very poor power and stalls also. Someone online thought I should swap the 2 cam sprockets and crank sprocket to fix the issue. Assuming the motor is good, since he bought it from a local reputable Subaru mechanic, should I remove the old 2.5L's two cam sprockets and the crank sprocket, and put them on the 2.2L block? I have the old motor, everything but the heads.

Its hard to do a diagnostic online, but I am more than sure that needs the 2.2 ecu and sensors, or only the 2.2 Air flow meter and a couple of sensors will fix it... Anyway, have you think on back to the 2.5 engine?

What if all timing marks line up but number 1 piston won’t line up all the way to the top and is sitting at least quarter way down

Be sure timing belt is for your car, 2.0 and 2.5 timing belts marks are slightly different

Yes,but even with no belt let’s say,the 2 marks on crankshaft sprocket once lined up to TDC the number 1 piston is not level to top of cylinder,it’s quarter way down after compression cycle now it doesn’t make any difference how many times you spin the crank around,there is 1 little triangle symbol on top of crank sprocket that will line up to TDC and piston will be level to top of block but that’s not the one every video shows to use, I know all the 4 turns of crank does but this one got me puzzled

@@mikew.inversegravitycraft little triangle is not the timing mark. Timing mark is a straight line just in the castle

@@sergiomechanic6265 yes that’s right,ok once all on cams and crank sprocket are TDC…..The number 1 Piston should be all the way to the top level,right?
