I like how Tom starts by saying "All my life, I've been thinking a little bit about money. And how to get money and how to KEEP money." It sets how different their upbringing were. Money was never an issue for her, and never will. She'll always be a Roy, but Tom had to be careful all the time and I think Shiv never considered why he was anxious. They don't understand each other but depend on each other, it's so interesting

Karl was the MVP of this episode. "He knows a thing or two about a thing or two" and gave Kendall the much needed reality check to keep those numbers out. His threat right after Roman dropped out probably also dropped Ken down to more sane levels.

If I remember correctly, this episode, number 6, occurs 7 days after episode 1 and only 3 days have passed since Logan died. The kids haven't stopped to even breath since they almost started their own company a week ago. And now they're on their own and clearly out of their depth.

that last scene always makes me cry. it’s such a cathartic moment for kendall, when you think about everything he has gone through up to this point to get this one almost obscure win.

Exactly Maple, they should have just said they didn't wanna do it and if anyone questioned them about it they'd get fired like Logan would have if they wanted to play like their daddy. Rewatching this season after a while the more I'm on Lukas/Shiv's side even though Lukas is unhinged and using Shiv. Roman doesn't wanna stand up to Kendall and Kendall is just not trustworthy when it comes to doing something serious lmao.

I mean, Lukas's side was always in the right, the deal just made sense, there is a reason why someone so egotistical as Logan was ready to sell the company. Kendall just liked being in charge as that had been his childhood dream and wanted to keep playing the part even if it meant doing things not good for the company.

Couple of Things: When speaking to audience Kendall shines, he sucks speaking more personal because he gets douchy and Roman is the exact opposite and sucks when speaking to an audience. Do they even understand the product their selling? Roman went about it the wrong way but he was RIGHT to fire that head of the studio.

I love that the longer you get into this series, you start to see that... the kids are so fucking inept and just really, really bad at this. Logan was an aggressive asshole, but when he said, "You are not serious people" it showed he knew what the hell he was talking about. They're pretty much jokes as business people.

Gerri was only getting done in by Logan because he didn't like her after she had a go at being CEO. Karolina, Frank and Gerri were the most competent people.

I think Karl is pretty good too, people don't think of him much because Logan always belittles him and treated him like shit and show plays him off for gags but at the end of the day, he has been the CFO of the company for decades. I loved when Karl puts Kendall in his place this episode. @@Spaced92

it's funny, at this point the kids have achieved something Logan never did: they own ATN and Pierce. Sadly, they are too incompetent and preoccupied to capitalize on that in any way.

I'm fine with him firing Joy. He was definitely wrong about Gerri. She literally navigated them through a huge scandal with the DOJ without a single person going to jail. She is good at her job.

I don't think it's about the business, Joy is a nobody that is too comfortable in her position (ignoring the studios massive failure and bringing up ATN while they are selling anyway? Who the hell are you!?), she was trying to defuse tension with the grief and laughing but accidentally triggered Roman every time she did. The show is about the family, Roman and Kendall are grieving by channeling their dad on Joy and Karl and not getting the reactions they want.

Don't care what the naysayers say, Kendall killed it with his presentation. The people watching loved it. Hugo says as much, Karolina says as much. Also cutting Greg's editing storyline and Karl's confrontation with Kendall was a mistake.

Yeah everyone involved in the show has said that Kendall did a good job with the speech, not sure why people are so desperate to say otherwise. Yeah it was a rough start but if you pay attention it's because the teleprompter fucked up, which means he improvised everything else and makes it even more impressive IMO. That was supposed to be a rare win for Ken. If he had actually done a horrible job then Karolina would have been in damage control mode, not clapping and congratulating him. She's never been a kiss ass like that.

Shiv isn’t the worst she’s just a flop!! Her schemes always fall apart at the end. Also we’ve never really seen a female character like her so it’s easy to just think she sucks at first glance. She’s mainly just annoying bc she thinks she’s more conniving than she actually is so she’s effs ppl over with a lack of finesse in the final hour only for it to flop every single time. She can’t beat patriarchy and have a win in the boys club no matter how hard she tries to be ruthless and emotionally detached.

@@the_crypter How so? She compromises on her morals just as easily once she's put in a position where working with Mencken is beneficial to her professionally. Jesse Armstrong has said that both Ken and Shiv are genuine about their liberal values, but neither of them are willing to put those values ahead of their business interests. In the end, they're always going to do what's most profitable. It's a really good portrayal of how rich white liberals typically behave actually.
