In today's video, we begin by describing what sulfites are in wine. Sulfites are a naturally occurring compound in wine, which appears during the fermentation process. Sulfites act to preserve wine prior to one drinking it. Because of this, many winemakers add extra sulfites to wine to maintain their taste prior to one drinking them. Many people claim that sulfites can affect the taste of wine and can contribute to a headache the day after drinking wine.
Üllo The Wine Purifier uses filters to remove sulfites and aerate wine prior to drinking it. This product includes the box, purifier device, purifier rubber display case, four filters, microfiber carrying bag, and instruction booklet.
Our pros to using this product are that it makes wine taste softer and smoother, it is a quality made product, it has nice packaging (which could make is a good wine gift for the holidays), it comes with a travel bag. Üllo The Wine Purifier is also really fun to use with various wines to see what they taste like without sulfites!
Our cons for this product are that it can become expensive to use with the filters and we did not notice a significant difference with our headaches after drinking wine. We also would not recommend using this product with expensive wine, aged wine, or sparkling wine.

filters are made from a material often used in industrial food processing and pharmaceutical APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients). More specifically, the filter is made from a food-grade, macroporous acrylic polymer. When activated, it captures free sulfites in wine by a reaction called covalent attachment. The filters are completely non-toxic, vegan, and gluten-free.

But does it work? To see the efficacy of the product, I was surprised you didn't test the sulfite levels in the wine before and after using the filter. Sulfite test strips would certainly have revealed the impact the filtration system has on content-which would have provided more valuable information rather than simple subjective taste observations. Otherwise, the video content comes across as merely an infomercial for Ullo.

My only concern in my opinion is that this seems very scripted, paid promotion as they sent it free, likely as an exchange for good publicity...other than that, nice format and editing overall tho. I work in the craft beverage industry and deal with SO² all the time, not saying I'm an expert by any means because I'm not, always learning, but with that said I have my doubts about these types of products' claims. We use sulfite testing titrets to test the ppm of sulfites in our beverages, and knowing what I know about so2, the only way this could possibly work that fast is through a hydrogenperoxide reaction or another oxidizing agent that oxidizes the so2 breaking it down. Maybe make a follow up video, where you describe if your still using the device, is it more of a gimmick or a necessity that you justify the recurring costs of purchasing these "filters" etc. If I'm honest, I don't want to fork out $120 plus to prove my suspicion by buying the ULLO as I believe it's a placebo, but the SO² or sulfite testing glass titrets are rather cheap, in a future video since already have the device, you can test their claims, by testing the starting sulfite levels out of the bottle and after passing through the ULLO, seeing if there is an actual reduction or not. I think you may be surprised to what you discover, or who knows Maybe il be surprised haha,, Cheers

Great video! Really informative, but can I just say that in Britain, a wino (3:44) is someone who has a problem with drink. Just so you know. :)

Historically, in the US the word had the same meaning. It's just in recent times that people have started to take it and repurpose it as a somewhat tongue-in-cheek fun way to refer to someone who enjoys wine.

I kept waiting for the part where you tell us how the wine tasted differently. I guess you decided to skip that. and if it's a true review which are very much doubt, cut the filter in half show us what's in there. Is it charcoal? Is it paper?

I just open the bottle and put in half a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. I believe it even takes less than that, like only 1/4 of a teaspoon for one bottle, but I just like to be safe. Bada boom! Sulfites removed by science.
