Since we're seeing Xianyun with her Plunging ATK buffs, I wanted to explore the idea of a Charged ATK buffer! This episode is very special, since in addition to my gameplay concepts, I'll also be presenting a backstory for this character!

I’m gonna have a pinned comment here to address any of the suggestions or critiques that are repetitive, since I don’t want to respond to every single one with the same basic answer. As of right now, there’s only one I’ve been seeing a lot, and that’s regarding the strength and rarity of the character. Many of you believe Summer’s kit is a bit too strong for a 4*, and think she’s better suited to be labeled as a 5*. Since rarity is one of the aspects I’m not particular about, I have no issues changing the rarity to a 5* :)

Funny thing is that I didn’t realize this until later on! I just wanted a different name from the original, which was Stephanie. And then I was just like, “Hmm, a name after a flower or season sounds nice. How about Summer?” But it fits so well, because then I put Vivaldi in the background lmao!

Wow, Summer is such a well designed character, from gameplay to lore. I'd love to have her on my teams. I really like the way you've leveraged Geo's capabilities. I just love the idea of incorporating sound like that into gameplay. I appreciate the pun surrounding "sound protection" and the idea of her summoning a resonator that follows the team around and blasts enemies is both comical and awesome at the same time.

This would actualky be an amazing itto support, shes def scaling so gorou and itto uses charged attakcs and he uses atk speed, unintentionally a pretty usefull unit

Lmao you’re right about it being unintentional. I had catalyst and bow users more in mind, but when I went down the list of potential characters, I realized how well she synergized with Itto! No complaints there, cause even if his Mono Geo team is good, any additional buffs are welcomed!

What I like about her story is that it can fit with both an anemo and geo character, the loss of a presumably loved one and the everlasting devotion to one’s passion/purpose

That's such a interesting character! Love the versatility of the kit and, specially, the story! A headcannon i got while listening was that her and Furina would be great friends, with Furina always having to fill great expectations while Summer is naturally underestimated by most, and even, herself.

Here are some of my comments regarding the kit: 1. The Arkhe should be Ousia instead of Pneuma, as Lyney & Neuvillette are already Pneuma themselves. So pairing their alignment will make more sense & provides comfort while exploring in Fontaine. 2. The Constellations you're presenting is based on a 5 star's constellation I assume? The disparity between a 5* and a 4* are vastly different, especially on their early constellations. Also the C2 is too strong, it should be swapped with the C6 just like every other niche 4* buffers (Sara, Gorou, Faruzan, Mika, Chevreuse) 5* Constellation Notebook: C1 - QoL C2 - DPS increase (usually ~30% increase) C4 - Partywide buff or Energy C6 - New gameplay (usually Main DPS if you're a support) (Some characters may have a slightly different constellations, but most of them follow these rules 1:1) 4* Constellations on the other hand, they're all over the place, but the rule of thumb is, all of their constellations stacks on top of each other, whether to fix their "incomplete" kit or to improve on the base kit. They do sometimes receive a new "playstyle", but it's usually locked behind earlier Constellations that are stacked on top of each other, not jumbled into their C6. Also for buffers, C6 is usually reserved for more buffing (from the game's track record, it's usually Crit DMG. Chevreuse is the first one to not give Crit)

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll try explain my creative process to give you an understanding of my side. For the Arkhe alignment, I agree that it would synergize well with Lyney and Neuv teams, so I’m not opposed to swapping it. I mainly chose Pneuma for two reasons. One, I looked at the roster and noticed that majority of the units are Ousia aligned. We have four units at Pneuma and seven at Ousia. I say seven because Sigewinne and Clorinde are confirmed Ousia users, and even though Furina can swap, Ousia is her primary alignment. I predict Emelie is going to be a Pneuma user, so that still leaves the ratio at 5:7. So Summer being Pneuma makes it 6:7. Secondly, I chose it for a lore reason. It’s still just theorizing, but I read an interesting take where alignment is based around personality traits and the concept of facades, and I felt it matched Summer’s personality and story a bit better. Like I said though, Arkhe isn’t a super big deal, so a swap isn’t going to affect the main gameplay aspects. As for constellations, I mainly just chose buffs based on what felt right and what I thought was interesting. Swapping C2 and C6 works, though I will say I definitely want to keep the new playstyle option her current C6 has, even if she’s meant to be a support. Idk, that part’s just a personal thing. In regards to C6 having the Crit DMG buff, I already gave her that in the A1 passive, and her signature weapon buffs Crit Rate, so it feels repetitive. But the constellation trend caught my eye, so I’ll probably look into that if I make an Elemental buffer. I have a few 5* ideas in the works, so I’ll keep your comment in mind when making their constellations. I can’t guarantee I’ll follow the formula 100% of the time, because I still want to choose buffs that feel more fitting, and I don’t want to limit myself if a more interesting option is available. But once again, thank you for the feedback! Comments like these always help me improve my work, so it’s very appreciated you take the time to write them!

Only one thing to fix: She is way too well designed for a 4-star, She needs at least some split scaling or weird mechanic that is entirely useless for her use case.

I love the story behind this character, due to the fact there is a Fontaine character that is a friend of rock, and seeing as we haven't met a character from Fontaine that is acquainted with Xinyan yet, this is an amazing concept idea ! This could definitely play into a Fontaine event next year.

Oh yeah, she’ll definitely be a good option for Hu Tao CA spam, and the A4 will be good for ATK SPD in general! Her shield is going to be much weaker than Zhongli, so it really depends on whether you can handle less defensive utility in turn

First off, Creme Brûlée from Crk (Im sorry Im sorry) My whole thing is like.. why cant we have characters like this in game? Summer is well designed, perfectly helps a somewhat neglected/unexplored niche, and has an interesting story. SO WHY MIHOYO?! Im not saying that they have to make every character they every person makes or even this one, but just why cant we have interesting characters with equally interesting playstyle. It is an amazing selling point and doesnt hurt any other character sales if they are unique enough while being equally versatile or giving enough of a increase to a niche. This is a great character and you did an amazing job, keep it up. And are you making a personal story yourself or just enjoy writing/reading?

I’m happy you liked the story and concept! I do have plans to make my own story series in the future (completely separate from Genshin), but that’s a long term series, so the planning and writing is a lot harder lol

You know, an idea would be to make her outright pyro. She would have to let go of the res shred, and maybe swap to an hp scaling, but that would make her much more flexible. Hu Tao Double Hydro for pyro/hydro resonance, Lyney mono pyro, a pyro aura setter for Ganyu and Neuvillette to melt and vaporize, can set up Burning in Dendro teams, the only one that would not benefit too much is geo, but geo wants three units anyway, Itto, Yun Jin and Gorou plus her would make Itto the Hypercarry and Summer the sub dps that can offer some extra shielding and crystallize shards as well as boost his charged attacks Edit: looking at the lore, and how her current geo vision works, the swap to pyro would make her see things like a thermal camera instead, she senses heat

summer sounds amazing and like an actual character that would be in the game. sadly, she almost definitely won't be,, but i hope she is and mihoyo has to buy the rights to her from you lol when i heard the sound barrier shield gimmick, i immediately thought of a shockwave when it gets broken, whether through damage or cd limits, like the sonic boom when the sound barrier gets broken by a jet or bullet !!!! also the urge to draw her is so strong rn but i need to go to bed so bad right now 😅😅 thank you for another great video !!!! ❤

Hey loved the vid, I’ve done two years of university level Latin (also to say I’m not the best but have a fairly decent understanding of the language) if you wanted to say “mist of strings” using the nouns you went with (obviously there are a few words for string and mist) I would translate it as: “Nebula Chordarum” Google translate is famously TRASH at translating Latin or languages that require declining the nouns so the words were right but the cases weren’t. Hope it helps at all!

The balance is that Summer’s shield is going to be weaker than Zhongli’s, so Hu Tao is prone to taking damage other than her own HP drain. But that’ll be a case by case basis in terms of the enemies you fight and how much defensive utility you need.

To be honest, I think that giving catalyst users say, 25% decreased stamina cost or something would be better Units like heizou and wrio still have hit lag, and generally all of the catalyst users have really high ca costs

That was something I considered after I recorded lol. Although, my only counter argument is that Heizou and Wrio don’t really synergize as much with Summer since their main source of damage isn’t CA DMG. And then when we look at dedicated CA users, like Klee, Yanfei, or even Ning, all of them have a passive that already ignore or reduce stamina. A stamina buffer isn’t someone we have yet, though, so I’ll probably make a video on that someday 👀

I mean just imagine if lynette could create those acrobatic circles and buff Bow/Catalyst charged attacks that goes through it. Her burst, doing those crazy hanged moves (just like in furinas demo) and buffing her skill to last longer os something (fitting neuvillete into that since his CA deals dmg 8 times)

Perhaps the Pyro Archon will be a Charged attack buffer? Maybe even decreasing stamina consumption when charged attacking oŕ completely mitigating stamina drain for a short time.

My only issue with this kit is its NOT realistic of her rarity at all. She doesn't really have any down sided despite being niche and even has a Crit DMG bonus for the whole team at A1 ???. Her constellations being insane??? This kit also doesn't have any negatives like most good 4 stars they make nowadays. She's would be most definitely a 5 star if anything, this kit is WAYYYY too cracked.

I make character kit concepts and rebelance existing characters all the time and this account is an absolute gem, love the content 💖. Summer is possibly my fav out of your concepts so far as her kit sounds really healthy and intuitive even at a base level while also expanding her potential playstyles with cons (mainly possibility to be on fielder which is always great). Only question and sry if you mentioned and I missed it is whats her ascension stat?

Gonna start with the praise, as per usual. Story was excellent, though I would probably not give a blind person who can only see a fairly short distance a bow. But having her be a bow user works so well with the kit, it's whatever. The weapon makes perfect sense for her 10/10. This is a character I've been wanting without really realizing it, with many characters that have interruption resist, it always felt like they didn't do much beyond providing defensive value. Sure Zhongli has a res shred, but in terms of offense that's about it. This provides a better option for most of the characters that can feel like they NEED IR to function and is a nice buff even for those who want rather than need it. The problem is, she's a little too good for them. To the point where apart from Yoimiya and maybe Hu Tao (it's close enough in my mind that I would have to calc to see) she overrides Zhongli at c0 in terms of meta. Everywhere Zhongli used optimally is gone. He still retains his use as the man with the massive shield, and would still be the comfort Character to end all comfort characters, but a c0 4* pushing a pretty good 5* almost entirely out of the meta is not great, and at c6 im fairly certain even Hu Tao will use Summer. What you need to do is make her a 5*. I know that "niche" supports are typically 4* but I see optimal use for her in Lyney, Nuev, Ganyu, and Itto and non-optimal use in Yanfei, Klee, and Keqing. Tighnari, Hu Tao, and Wanderer are also all too close to tell. If you make the same list for Shenhe, it would be smaller, so summer being a 5* is reasonable. All you would really need to tweak is giving her some def scaling on her skill and Burst, and make ger c6 buff that alongside the def% CA. She would still overshadow ZL in the meta, but that's fine, so long as you have to spend primos on her specifically.

I’ve gotten a few comments also saying she’d be better off as a 5*, which I’m not opposed to, since it’s one for the smaller details. I think rarity is something I originally looked at when I design their base kit, but after reading everyone’s feedback, I’ll start considering how constellations affect their strengths as well!

While i agree that dedicated supports are 4*, she is way too overstacked, and a C6 that turns a support into a main DPS is usually a 5* kinda thing. Really like the idea overall though!

Childe’s CA DMG will still be buffed as usual, but since his melee stance isn’t classified as using any sort of melee weapon type, Summer probably won’t be able to buff his ATK SPD

Maybe it’s because she’s a free unit, so they wanted her kit to be more general? I don’t think they’re *completely* unsynergistic, though. The only thing that causes dissonance is their passives, but it‘s a pretty minor loss in the grand scheme of what their kits provide. Even if there’s better options over Lynette, I’ve still cleared many abyss floors with the twins together :)

i feel like her kit is too strong the genshin devs never does stuff like this and most of the time 4 stars have a fatal flaw that makes them niche at best besides the power 5 i feel like shes way more suited to be a 5 star

I’m not opposed to making her a 5 star at all! I definitely lean my concepts toward the stronger side anyway. Although, I still think Summer’s kit is pretty niche. Shielding is the aspect that lets her be used in other teams, but it’s not going to be as strong as a dedicated shielder. If we take that away, almost all of her utility revolves around CA DMG.
