Jeff Jampol is one of the most successful music managers in the world. His client list is nothing short of legendary with such artists as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Parker and on and on and on. It wasn't always this way, Jeff struggled with an extreme drug addiction that almost cost him his life. He was addicted to drugs, obese, homeless and doctors even wanted to amputate his leg. Through the grace of god Jeff survived and has now been sober for decades and runs one of the biggest Artist Management firms in the world. He also is a teacher at UCLA, on the board of the same rehab that through him out and spends a gigantic amount of time paying it back with counseling other addicts to try and get them clean. Jeff sat down on the Sunset Sound roundtable because of his relationship with The Doors and Janis Joplin who tracked significant amounts of work here at Sunset Sound, but hearing his glorious life's story was truly the inspiration of a lifetime.

It’s refreshing to hear this guy talk about addiction. It’s dangers should be discussed more openly & not glamorized as it is in commercials and pop culture

The bus came by, I got on... That's where it all began! It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to Never ever land. Cassady was the cross over between the beats and the hippies. The driver of "On the Road" (Dean Moriarty).... and the driver of Further. He deserves a Movie!

This was a very inspiring interview. He is a great story teller. What brought me here was - as so often - Jim Morrison. I discovered The Doors when I was 14 years old. Hard times for me back then. Puberty had hit me like a rock from hell. Also we had moved to another town. I was a stranger in a strange land. Discovering the Doors as well as the Beatles, Hendrix and Joplin gave me the power of Life. For me it was the four great J`s: Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and John Lennon. They saved me. I will be forever grateful to them and I enjoy their wonderful art everday day of my Life.

13 years clean now and lived the same kind of life as this guy. Can Totally relate. I checked into a place very much like impact. All the clients were convicts, same deal only you had to do 1 year to get your sentence reduced by 1 third. For a guy doing 10 years it's a pretty good deal. Same thing, total lockdown for 90 days. I was a volunteer not a criminal. These guys were scary, some of them were muderers. Anyway I stayed there for 18 months and ended up running my own house and trying help these guys. Some made it, some didn't. Best decision Ever!

Didn't know about the new Jim Morrison book at all until the very end of this video. Not sure I would have ever run across it otherwise. As mentioned, so much music and media released in the world now, nothing rises to the surface.

This is a fascinating interview. Thank you for sharing it. Just for consideration the Unites States had 36,120 traffic fatalities in 2019. That's 99 people who lost their lives because of cars on the road per day. Please just think about that for a second.

I'm glad I stuck through this interview. At first, I was a little put off thinking Jeff was kind of arrogant. But as with most lessons, you have to get through the hard part and stick with it to get to the deeper understanding. My mind was changed very quickly after he got into his stories. I've got the Doors docu pulled up to watch next. I share a birthday with Jim Morrison. I initially found Sunset Sound channel because of Eddie's passing (Still grieving. It may never end), but have found many interviews on this channel of other artists that have been very informative. I am very proud of you guys (and I hope some girls) for doing these interviews to preserve the history of Rock n Roll. Thank you! I don't know if you give tours of the studio, but I'm ever in Cali, I would love to see it in person. :) xoxo

His is a story of drug addiction. There are stories like that in every state. Last month, a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general announced "a $26 billion national settlement with drugmaker Johnson & Johnson and three companies that distributed opioid painkillers even as addiction and overdose deaths skyrocketed." "Overdose deaths hit a new record of 93,000 in 2020"
