They have outlawed most forms of gambling except for government sanctioned betting pools, lotteries, and Pachinko private parlors. I guess it's an effort to regulate it, but I don't see why they can't just have it be privatized the same way they do... Everywhere else. Despite their death grip on the government, the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan has not been able to get more forms of gambling. Maybe Pachinko was a concession?

BLACKIESBOY because chess will be around for a long time and nobody owns it just like soccer, just like trampoline juming etc. do you really think counter strike will be played forever? or league? or dota? at some point the company that makes these games will not exist anymore and wont sell the properties to anyone. where as basketball for example has no one to stop it. chess as well.

Dota was literally a warcraft 3 mod while LoL was an original work with original code, art, and concept.
